Running Boards.. Pics please:)

Hey all,

I’m running through options on replacing the stock GMC running boards. I like the ‘21 running boards (they seem to sit higher/more flush with the bottom of the doors) but they won’t fit on a ‘20. I’ve seen a few on this topic/thread, are there any more trucks here with aftermarket running boards/steps/etc?

I did a little modification to my Rough Country's. (Painted steps red to match accents of the AT4) They fit great and feel sturdy. I'm very happy with them.

My dealer said that the ‘21 running boards won’t fit the ‘20. Shame on me for not doing more research but I swear I saw something online supporting that. Please correct me if I’m wrong; I’ve seen ‘21 AT4’s with higher end/coated off-road OEM running boards that look so much better than the OEM ones on mine.

Does anyone know if 2022 running boards will fit on a 2020?

I have to ask you, how much can you believe the dealer? Anyways, I doubt anything changed. The only thing that changed would be the mounting points. I highly doubt GM changed the cab after two years, then changed it again after another two years.

Like I said, if anything changed, it was probably be the mounting points. That might mean changing around some stuff with the mounts to get them to work.

Buy a used set. If it doesn't work, you can probably sell it for what you bought it for.

About to try to place an order Monday for a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 with 20" wheels and I need to figure out what to do for side steps (I have a wife 5'1" and kids that are 5 and 7). Saw that there are high clearance steps available now for AT4 but they look pretty high up so not sure if...

Very true; I haven’t met a dealer that had a team who knew what they were talking about. I’m looking into putting a set of ‘22 running boards onto my ‘20 but am still researching. I don’t want to dump $800 into something and have to turn around and sell them lol. Thanks!
