Rear suspension noise

Anyone notice noise in the rear end? I hear it when backing out of my driveway onto my highly crowned street or if I stand on rear bumper and gently rock the truck sounds almost like a click or pop and then some squeaking

I think someone else had this same issue here on the forum. If I remember, he took the truck to the dealer and they tightened up the rear springs. I'm not sure if your truck is an HD or not, however.

Here's the thread...Front-end Clunk.

Thank you - my truck is a 2023 at4x (1500). Apparently this issue with leaf springs is common on sierras. I have some work travel coming up so the dealer is going to come take it for a few days and get it fixed while I’m gone. 720 miles on my truck - I don’t need any clunking!

i also measured the ground clearance to the rear diff and it’s 10” on the nose. Our trucks are supposed to have 11.2” of clearance (2023 at4x with aev bumper but not full package). 3/4 tank of gas. Seems concerning that my truck is sitting low with an empty bed. Has anyone else checked this?

I have not checked this- however, nothing above the axle would have any effect on this height. Stock tires and wheels ?

Yes sir - totally stock, 700 miles on the truck.

Here is a video of the noise

You can hear the click right at the end. That’s me pushing up on the suspension from under the truck

You may have found something here, be curious to see responses or where GM measures from. I just measured- bottom of my rear diff is almost 10 1/2, but I do have taller tires I have 285/70/18. As for noise, seen a number of posts on here. I have not had it myself, however, when my truck was about a month old I removed the rear blocks to level it. So I may have tightened up anything that was loose in the process.

Dealer says it’s the leaf springs (a known issue). They ordered me new springs but those are on back order. I’m not even sure how that’s possible since you need leaf spring to build any truck that comes off their factory assembly line!!!! Lol

Mine has it too. Read somewhere it’s because of a gap in the leaf springs and they could put a shim in the gap to help. My dealer said that it was a temporary fix and they won’t stay. Curious to see how it goes.

It’s maddening, if it’s an issue with GM springs, I’m not confident new ones will do much

That is kinda what I was thinking- let us remove part A, now let us put back on a brand new same part A- fixed. What De Heck?!

Just came back from the dealership and they said it is a "known" issue but there is no bulletin on it.

I had the creaking leaf spring issue on my 23 2500hd with <1500 miles. Dealer tried the re-torque of the u-bolts. Did not help. Ordered new springs and u-bolts. Took care of the creaking. New springs look different to me, but I can't describe what. Maybe just clean! Lol.

No noise in the last 4000 miles.

Mine started around 6k miles or so. I will say this, I have 14k miles now and don't even notice it anymore. I had to really listen to it this morning to see if it was still doing it....which it is but not as loud.
