So I left the house to go to the dentist this morning. On my way at a red light, it died on me. I just filled up yesterday, and has been running like a champ for me for the three months I’ve been driving it since my dad died, so I was thinking maybe it was a batch of bad gas. When I left the dentist I start it, it would die, start it, died. No codes, no lights, nothing. If I could keep it running if I gave it some gas, so being a few miles from home, that’s what I did. On my way home, that’s when lights on the dash started popping up like “Service Parking Brake” and “Service ESC” and “Steering Assist is Reduced, Drive with Care.” Both the “traction control off” light and the parking brake with a key underneath it light was on, and the CEL was flashing. I pulled the codes when I got home and had codes P0152 (O2 sensor bank 2, sensor 1), P0157 (O2 sensor bank 2 sensor 2), and P0300 (random misfire).

Now I know everyone’s response is going to be “It’s a 2020 with 10k miles, it’s under warranty, take it to the dealer.” and that’s what I will be doing as soon as I can. My question is, has anyone had this happen to them before or seen this before in their AT4? I’ve had this exact thing happen to me before, but it was in my 2004 GTO after I put the headers on it, and I blew out two of the O2 sensors because I didn’t seal the wires properly (you have to extend the O2 sensor wires whenever you put headers on the newer GTOs, and I didn’t buy wire extenders, so I did it the old fashion way with bulk wire, butt connectors, and tape). But aside from adding a drop in K&N air filter, my AT4 is completely stock and unmolested. Hell, it’s only had the oil changed once. It was at the dealer for a couple months shortly after my dad bought it, something was bad in the transmission, and it took that long to get the part, but other than that, there’s been no problems with it.

Here are pictures of the dash I was talking about.

Well I saw this page while doing some research this morning. Nothing definitive of course. People reported everything from a fuse to having to change out push rods and lifters.

Haven’t had that issue. If it is computer related, try unhooking negative battery terminal for 30 minutes and then trying. No clue, just a suggestion that has worked on other computer issues I have had.

Thought about trying that, but don’t want to clear the codes in the computer in case it erases them for good. With the 2020+ ECU’s being firewalled now, I don’t know what all changes they’ve done or damage it could do.

I know I’m ranting here, but I don’t understand why GM had to take a perfectly incredible set up, and go F it all up. Starting with the transmission. The TR6060 is arguably one of the best transmissions ever conceived of, let alone put in a vehicle (after the Allison of course, but I’m a gasoline guy, I won’t switch to Satan’s fuel called “diesel”), but no, GM had to put that stupid 10 speed transmission paired with the 6.2L. Now they’ve firewalled the computers so us average Joe’s can’t run logging or anything like that to see what’s going on and have to take it to the dealer.

So just an update, I just dropped it off at the dealer. Started it up this morning, didn’t die on me once, drove perfectly fine the 7-8 miles from my house to the dealer, no lights or warning messages or anything like that. I get to the dealer, the codes I pulled yesterday (pulled, but did not clear), were not there anymore. But I guess we’ll see what they say.

Service write just told me their tech is still looking at it. He said the tech had had a couple trucks like this in the past, that he’s leaning towards either a faulty ECM or faulty injector. I’m still praying for a software issue because with parts shortages these days, there’s no telling on how long it would take to get a new ECM and/or injector.

So just picked up the truck. Driving like a champ again. They had to replace the ECM, reprogram it, they replaced the Nav SD card, I also had them change the oil (I gave them the Royal Purple oil and K&N oil filer) and rotate the tires, mainly so I didn’t have to get on the cold floor in the 35° weather and do it all lol, and give it a full detail. Dad was a smoker, and even though he passed 3 months ago, it still smelled a little like old man.
