Questions: Plowing with an AT4 - Dual alternator, auxiliary battery, hood scoop

Hi all,

Planning to put a plow on a 2024 2500 AT4 that I'm about to order with the duramax. I am adding the snow plow prep package but it does not seem to auto add either the dual alternator or the auxiliary battery. Here are my questions:

Do these trucks come with a single battery with the diesel?
On my F250 gasser with a single battery every once in a while the plow will draw enough current to reset the truck dash display / electronics

Should I consider adding the dual alternator and auxiliary battery, or what would be the main use case for these adds?

With the hood scoop being [I believe] functional, is the plow going to create any turbo cooling or airflow issues? I can't imagine it will since they allow you to add the snowplow prep package? I know this is an issue on the current Tundras and upcoming Ram hurricanes, but those are 1/2 ton trucks.

Also is it possible to order aux switches from the factory on the AT4?

Diesel is a dual battery. Optional dual alternators.

Hood scoop should not be problematic. The under hood air passage has a low spot drain on the drivers side. Air inlet for airbox is on the drinkers side.

Forgot your last question. Upfitter switches are available for the 24 model. I don't know if they are wired. The 20-23 were not and it was an extra charge by dealer, unless you did it yourself. Will be a bag of parts in cab.

Thank you, what would the use case be for the second alternator? I am assuming I don't need it for just a plow function.

I honestly don't know what a second alternator would be useful for. Nothing on the farm that I can see.

If I need to jump something off in an emergency, I do use the high idle option. Usually use a jump pack. If it's not an emergency, I replace batteries.
