Question on CAI for 6.6L gas motor..

I put a K&N on my 6.2 1500 and noticed only a little reprieve with fuel consumption, and negligible power.
Had an S&B on my last 5.3, and noticed a slight throttle response and better mpg.

I now have the 24 6.6 Duramax at 6k miles. I'm not changing anything for awhile.

This thread might have a bit of what you're looking for:

I’m running a K&N CAI on the 6.6 gas (2021 3500 AT4). I installed it almost immediately as I’ve done on all my GM trucks, so I don’t have a good before vs after on mpg. I will say that the engine noise is much more noticeable, especially in a narrow rpm band in 3rd gear. I don’t regret the upgrade - getting 14.5mpg around town, 19mpg highway unladen, and 9.5-10mpg towing an 8k lb travel trailer.

Thanks for the response, I have had friends use the cold intakes, they seem to be a little louder than stock? Or maybe it was just their older trucks?

Any CAI is going to be a little louder than stock. You’ll see if you perform the upgrade (and you should definitely do it yourself - very easy) what you’re trading - you’ll pull out the stock intake with its odd shape and extra baffling and replace it with a straight(ish) empty tube. You get better airflow through the conical filter and straighter flow with the CAI, but you give up what the old shape and baffling provided - quiet. Though the efficiency gain of the CAI is slight, it will pay for itself with enough miles.

I have one on order, just curious if you're disappointed with the power or performance? Any regrets?
I don’t regret getting the gas motor..I’m just use to the power and torque of a diesel. I feel the 6.6 gas needs about 50 more horse power and I believe the rear end gears need to be 4:10….It’s a great truck with a great transmission. The motor just needs a little more power for the weight of the truck.
