Hey guys I have a 2024 AT4 2500 HD I bought new at the end of June. My OnStar trial subscription ended and I did not reup for any plan.…Today I noticed I no longer have navigation maps and it says I need to subscribe to a data plan. My question is that I thought it had a built in navigation system (for $75k I thought it would be included) does anyone know if it should or do I have some kind of issue with mine?? Thanks for any replies..

No sir, those maps rely on data to work. I always use apple car play / android auto if you have that. Usually a better experience anyways, the UI is so slow on these trucks!

Is that printed on your window sticker? Mine specifically called out 3 years of connected services. I have seen on these forums that if it was not on the window sticker it's possible that it was not added to the VIN properly. Or maybe a possibility that even if it is on the window sticker, something was not done properly.

Probably need connected vehicle plan with onstar to make nav work. I think $10 more a month on top of included remote access plan.

There's a issue if you sign up for the month of onstart and you let it expire then somehow your data plan gets shut off, which then shuts the map off. It happened to me twice. I spent a month dealing with it with the folks at onstart. You need to reachout to them and explain the issue. Each time the person on the phone couldn't help and they needed to elevate it to a manager or something.

Hit the onstar button in the truck and talk to them. You should have 3 years of coverage. Sometimes it shows deactivated and they should be able to fix it easily. I had the same thing happen after I bought my truck.

I believe the 3-year OnStar is NOT on the 2024 trucks. I think this ended with 2023, which is why my 2023 AT4X costs more than the 2024.

Oh I didn’t know that. Can you connect your truck via Wi-Fi and download maps to work offline and it work? There has to be a work around vs just using car play or android auto for navigation.

I don’t know. I would check the owner’s manual and/or call OnStar. I do know that going forward connected services are going to be huge money makers for all the car manufacturers. GM has been very open about this, especially with electric vehicles.

My 22 has the maps on an SD card. Did that go away at some point? I like the built-in nav the truck has over Google or apple maps programs and I have zero data plans or Onstar.

the refresh uses built in google system and to my understanding you have to have a data plan to use the built in google maps unless you have downloaded offline maps. Ofcourse you can use maps/google maps with car play and android auto but it’s not full screen capable with car play.

You really have three options to use Google Maps built-in nav:
1. Setup the data plan (its separate from Onstar).
2. Connect to your phone’s hotspot with the truck’s connections/hotspots configuration.
3. At home (or where you have a wifi connection), use the Google Maps offline map function. It will keep them updated anytime it connects to the wifi. You can configure it to auto-connect when you are home to home wifi.

My 2024 has the 3 years of connected services. I do not like being pushed to use their data plan. Sounds like we can use the offline map and the phone data plan?? Is that right? Other wise I will just use apple car play and Waze like I did in my ford
