In another thread someone mentioned taking the tailgate off on their HD by themselves being a pain. Did you have to take off the tailgate for the 1500 install?

no I was able to squeeze my fingers in there and get it cleaned and get it on. Two people maybe easier to keep it straight. I did three 1500s with them in my family

Can I assume these will fit a 3500? I guess I could look on the Putco site, but since I'm here...

My cousins we did his 2500 easily same thing didn't take off tailgate so i would assume it would be the same. If i recall correctly the 2500-3500 has a hinged piece in the area of where the bar would go on the drivers side but we went either above or below it wasn't a big deal at all

Has anyone installed this? I do like the pop it gives the backend: https://www.putco.com/product/blade-led-tailgate-light-bar/v/GMC/Sierra 1500/2023/
I put it on my AT4 and live the look. I even screwed up a little and have a slight sag in the middle but it actually creates a cool effect if you walk towards it where the middle will be brighter and as you move around it works the bright part towards the sides.

Here’s a video going through the towing light sequence check.

Curious if this led bar can be used for back up lighting only as that's really the only reason I would want it. Would be nice if there was a way to have it linked to a switch as well.

Yep, just dont hook up all the wires. I had one on my truck that I just sold. I hooked up only the brake lights (also turn signals) and reverse lights. I did not need the running lights. I figured the more brake lights the better.

Did you have to remove the tailgate to do the install?
You can probably hook it up without taking it off, but it made it a lot easier. I just pulled it off and laid it kind of sideways in the bed. The only hard part is finding the right angle to get the driver side up and out.

Do you have the multipro tailgate? I believe it is much heavier.
