Powered subwoofer - Kicker 8"

Curious if anyone has installed the Kicker 8" powered sub. Not the GM version, just the kicker about half size of a shoe box.

That’s a neat looking subwoofer setup and a lot cheaper than the oem one that GM offers.

i just had the 10" installed. tad underwhelming. but i wasnt after huge rattling bass.

Exactly how underwhelming is it? I personally think the stock bose system is very underwhelming, and I am wanting more bass, but like you said I don't need the truck to rattle like a tin can.

Curious if all it took was splicing the bose yellow/black and yellow speaker wires, and if anything else was needed. I am after just a little more bass, gone are the days with 2 12's in the back haha. I have a rattling passenger speaker which I would like to turn bass down, if anyone has had any rattling on passenger door around the speakers id i all ears on potential solutions or identifying the issue!

I would go 10 over 8. It’s way better than the factory bose for sure. It fits. Nicely under the rear driver seat.

Guess i was hoping for more. Gain dial is at the max

Two things:

1. Yes, I too have a rattle in the passenger door speaker...it frankly just sounds blown or distorted and I play to replace them. Thought it was initially the front dash tweeter, but alas, it isn't. So while I like the Bose system, my passenger door speaker rattles and will be getting replaced. You may have the same problem...

2. Also like you, I too miss the days of 2 12's in the trunk...I certainly didn't want anything THAT loud, but some Bass is a must. I currently have a Kicker 250x1 amp powering an 8in JL Audio w3. I cut out the necessary size from the factory storage tray underneath the back seat, on the Driver Side.

Overall, it sounds good and I'm glad I did it...but I'll be building a slightly larger box. I would LOVE to just say @#$% it, and eventually get an 8in w7...but think that'll be too much.

Is the dealer taking care of the speaker? Same conclusion that it was blown. Day I test drove the truck, with only 4 miles on it, I got in and the audio was turned all the way up, I guess the dealer salesmen had a nice ride to lunch.

I installed the alpine 8". Makes me want more bass, but then I realize I am not actually not in need of much more than what the powered sub is making happen.

All in all the bose system is trash.

When you get it to the point where you can actually hear it over the 6x9s in the door of a truck it starts distorting very badly. For the money there are better options out there with small form enclosures and separate amplifiers. I have installed a lot of these and they have all been very MEH.

Which sub exactly do you have under the rear driver seat and can you send pics?

Can I get some clarification? Are you referring to the 8" Kicker from Best Buy or the Kicker from GM?
