Off-Road High-Clearance Assist Steps Install

Easy, if you have a basic metric socket set. Mounting points are plugged with a plastic "knockout." The then exposed hole is threaded. Assist steps will come with bolts.

Perfect! I looked it up after I posted and maybe that is why the dealer is only charging $75 to install them!

If 75 bucks doesn't concern you and you're wanting this done now, I'd definitely let the dealer have it with these temperatures over 100 deg right now, lol.

I have installed lots of steps and other accessories for trucks over the years in cold hot and just right. For $75 I would let the dealer install it. IMO, thats pretty cheap to not have to do it and save my time for something else.

I guess the other factor is how long it will take the dealership to install them.

agreed, they are weeks out here and my impatience would have me under the truck even if it was snowing out.

This is going to come across poorly, but the point is valid.

Even guys with trucks can't / won't install running boards. I'm scared for the future of our country.

Just installed Amp-research Xtreme powered running boards in 104F this weekend. But I actually love wrenching on cars/trucks.

I agree with you. I turned wrenches for 25 years. Then became a certified 3G welder for 12 years. Then took over the family farm.

On the other hand, we don't know the circumstances with the OP. I would love to turn wrenches on my trucks, but getting heat stroke a couple of times under a welding helmet, limits when I will work on them. A fan is a necessity above 85°.

Also not having the correct tool will make the job suck or not possible.

Everyone does their own thing. I installed my own too but the OP sounded like he hadn't wrenched much so for 75 bucks, not a bad deal.

I made the mistake of not getting these when i bought the truck and my wife and kid are having issues getting into the truck. For those that have installed these is it pretty easy or should i just take it and let the dealer do it?
Do you have a link for these steps? Would be much appreciated.

Here is a link. Might find a better price if you search around?

Here is another vendor:

These are for a CrewCab.

It was just a simple question. I can and probably will do it as i was just asking for a little more information.

one thing to consider is that the high clearance assist steps don't help much in getting into the cab in terms of how high one has to step up. I'd consider something else if the family needs more than just a little help.
