Just purchased 2021 Sierra 1500 at4 duramax a week ago. Used with just over 11,000 miles. It makes a noise when shutting off. Also in the video notice the rust around the area where the noise is coming from. Thoughts???
You are good to go. That is the variable vane actuator for the turbo. gm engineers thought it will help to keep them from locking up, by full stroking them to keep soot away. The rust is normal for a turbo. Too hot to keep paint on the hot side, just like exhaust manifolds.
Thanks for the response. This is my first time owning a diesel. Another question as far as DEF is there a certain brand, quality that I should be using or are they all the same?
