I recently ordered the valve body upgrade from NextGen Drivetrain(I’ll leave a link below) as I wanted the upgraded line pressure and piece of mind that it will hold up to my heavy foot. I planned on doing the install myself to save a little money, and I just don’t trust shops now days. I’d say on a difficulty scale of 1-10 (1 being easy, and 10 being extremely difficult) I would give it a 7. But if you are mechanically inclined and can read directions well and have the proper tools, it’s not difficult, just time consuming.

The best part about doing it myself was I was able to swap the trans filter, and utilize the fluid I wanted to. My truck already has a PPE deep trans pan. So I simply ordered a new filter, new trans pan gasket, the valve body kit, and then ULV Trans fluid from HotShots Secrets. From start to finish it took me about 7 hours total. And I will say the shifts are a LOT faster and feel more secure. Downside for me at least, is that it did not fix my issue hahahaha. I’m pretty sure I just have a worn torque converter as that is the next weak link, and will ultimately be my next project. I’m planning to go with a Goerend Billet Triple disk torque converter, which I’ll order from DHD.

But I wanted to share my pictures of the process and be here for anyone that wants to do it, but may be hesitant due to it being a complex install.

I’ll do my best to try and get yall a discount code if anyone is interested in purchasing the kit from them.

A few years ago my diesel Mercedes Benz was acting up, stuck in first or second gear and the dealer could not initially figure it out. I had them change the valve body. cost around $3000, they installed the latest and much improved version of the valve body but the problem did not go away. Finally turned out to be a $15 oxygen sensor which fixed the issue. Was the $3000 spent a waste of money? Perhaps not. I used to have turbo lag issues with the previous body. I had done about 80,000 miles on the car, The turbo lag disappeared, the 7 speed shift response improved a whole lot, besides I have a brand new valve body for a car I'm never gonna sell. Mileage is now 95,250. it still goes like a rocket, still looks amazing, has over 500ftlb torque, low profile tires, yet gives me around 30mpg.

I was looking at getting the complete swap out ready to go valve body assembly from Suncoast. Pricey but easy swap. I have a very strict rule I follow - I don't F with trannies🤣

That’s a very solid rule to follow! Mechanical and real life trannies can always get you in trouble you don’t want to be in😂
