Newly retired from GM HD truck plant in Flint

Welcome to the forums

I wonder if a guy like you could become a consultant. Instead of paying the destination charge people pay you $1000 to walk their truck through then use the $900 to get the truck home.

Thank for letting me join. Newly retired from GM HD truck plant in Flint. My family and I walked a 2024 AT4 3500 HD , volcanic red crew diesel down the line. Clean build sheet at the end and have had no problems. Will be pulling a gooseneck trailer in the future.
Welcome.

That's cool! Hopefully you were allowed to take pictures.

I knew Cat, Gleaner, JD and Case had tours while they built your combine. Case even let you drive it out of assembly. I never would have imagined gm or the like would allow it, but maybe it was due to your seniority.

What is a "clean build sheet"?

Way back in the day you could pick your vehicle up at the manufacturer. Now there’s a set charge except for Alaska and Hawaii. Everyone pays the destination charge.

GM does the walk through for anyone buying a HD built in Flint, not Oshawa. Also the bowling Green Corvette plant. The only two plants that do this. Build sheet is used to write up repairs as the truck is built.

Retirement and a brand new truck. It doesn't get much better than that. I have the new truck but retirement is about 7 years out still. Based on my vehicle purchase history, that's about 2 more truck purchases.... which is part of the reason retirement is about 7 years out still. :)

Welcome to the retirement club! Beautiful truck, but I'm biased with the color you choose...same as mine!
