Hey everyone, just around here lurking... I was all set to get a 2020 AT4 in a 6.2 but heard so many issues with lifters. So I started looking at the 3.0. I got to ride in one and was really impressed with the torque (I've had 3 diesel trucks in the past), but its still new... And I'm looking at the Tundra (not the new V6 model). Horrible mileage but bigger tank, don't have to use premium, and bulletproof. Anyway, just here to learn!!

Welcome! You should definitely go with a 3.0 :D Now talking about the Tundra, I am disappointed that they aren't offering a diesel in the new one, although some of the stuff they have done recently suggests they will eventually... Anyways, good luck with your search!

Welcome I’ve always had a thing for the Tacoma’s we just always had a camper to pull (thank god we aren’t in the camping business anymore haha) and I could never decide if I could ever go back to that size of a truck with a wife and 2 girls.

thanks everyone, I still haven't decided yet... I keep hearing of issues with GM, and it hurts because thats all I've ever owned. Its just hard for me to get over how bad the MPG is with the Tundras. Not to mention that they don't have the tech that the new GM's do. I was going to go look this weekend at a tundra but I may wait until January. Seems like a lot of people are panic buying or just the supply is down. New tundras are going for about 6-8k LESS than a used 2019 with 40k miles. Crazy times!!

What are your thoughts on the '22 Tundra?

I’ve owned more GM trucks than any other but I’ve had a Ford F-150 for a short while then when I hit a deer with my at4 earlier this year they gave me a new f150 king ranch to drive I just never have liked the way one drives or rides and seems like nothing on the interior is convenient to get to but I’m sure there solid trucks. I had 2012 Ram I still call it a Dodge I don’t care what they say haha it was really good truck I towed a camper with it never had a issue with it but I think if someone is shopping for a new truck go drive different ones see how they feel to you because I feel like there all pretty solid anymore.

very true.... I think 90% of cars are pretty good, but when you mix the internet with that, that loudest group is the ones that have issues. You don't hear a lot from the other people that don't have issues.
On a side note, I was doing some digging and noticed that the new 3.0's would be able to tow 13k ????? I wonder if they changed the tuning or what to gain an extra 4k. Either way, I'm gonna try and hold off from buying anything until I see the new full lineup

I think all motor vehicles are built with parts that are made in about 5 different places. So they're very similar under the hood....they all have mistakes/issues/recalls. Google any manufacturer and you'll find recalls and law suits etc.... The best advice I give to people is to find a dealer/service shop that's conveniently located and treats you right and buy what they sell.

You are correct I’ll drive pretty much anything. I remember in high school I had a 1989 Mazda B2200 I bet the crap out of that little truck but it just kept going. I looked up the updated 3.0 it said updated chassis and engine cooling so that’s interesting.

Yep one of my friends owns a GM dealership so I always feel like I’m somewhat in good hands.

100% truth

Have driven new models Ford (gas in diesel), Ram (diesel) and now GMC. All are great truck with numerous pros. I could look and find cons on all as well with Ferrari, Bentley, Rolls, etc. I think with today’s technology and advancement reliability is as much on the owner of the vehicle for reliability in how they maintain, drive, etc. I would not hesitate in buying a Chevrolet, Ram, Ford, GMC, Toyota, Nissan. I just choose on personal likes and take absolute care of the vehicle.

I just need GM to hurry up and show us the new trucks and get them in the dealerships:ROFLMAO: Since the 2022's are just refreshes, I'm hoping they have ironed out the problems.
