After driving a minivan for 8+ years, and and SUV for 12+ years, and now with 2 kids in college, it was finally time to buy the vehicle I had been waiting for. I've had it less then a week, but I love it. My wife and I recently moved to AL to effectively start phase 3 of our lives as empty nesters. We do some running, road biking and a tiny bit of mountain biking, but we are complete beginners at the latter. We might be better suited for riding rails-to-trails type courses. 😉 Probably never get into extreme off-roading, but would like to find some areas for maybe weekend camping/riding/fishing, etc...

I look forward to seeing the different accessories or mods some of you seasoned owners have added. The first thing I'll probably do is find a good bedcover. Which ones do you like/dislike?

I have had tons of covers there are only a few I absolutely hate, and one I love the ones to stay away from are the GM soft rool ups they dont last long term and are overpriced, and the tri-fold ones are veeeeery annoying if you like to use your bed. the best one ive liked is a hybrid soff/hard rool up with the aluminum slats and leather top! those are amazing.

Vinny,

Congrats on reaching "Phase 3".. your new truck will take you on many new adventures. Mountain biking can be really fun.. and depending on where you ride and your level of enthusiasm - you can be aggressive, or ride more modest trails, etc. Some years ago I made two one-week trips to Moab, Utah to ride their phenomenal trails. Not sure I'd choose some of those anymore - but congrats on your truck and new phase of live.

Jim

Truxport cover.

Ordered with GMC points from the app and picked up at the dealer. Great cover and keeps my stuff dry. Congrats on the new ride. I’m loving mine.

I've tried all the bed covers. The last 4 trucks I've used the GM SOFT trifold cover. Super easy to take off if needed and is like a hard cover, very smooth appearance.

Are there "security" issues with a soft cover? I'd prefer to have as reasonable waterproof as can be, and still prevent the theft of a generator (or bike / etc.) from under the cover. Are rolling covers about as "safe" as folding?

I really like the soft top I got from GMC. It was really cold when I installed it but one the sun got on it and it warmed up the wrinkles are gone.

I don't see how the rolling covers would be an less safe than the folding...especially considering that man folding covers are plastic. Most of the rolling that I looked at are aluminum. I have bars above my bead to hold kayaks & mountain bikes. So, a folding was never an option.

FWIW, nearly all can be defeated very easily. All you need to do is pry at the rail/bed junction. Almost all of them are just clamped in place. Your best security is just having things out of sight and that is accomplished with a soft cover while saving a ton of money. With that said, I went with a retractable. The durability and flush mount sold me.

My 23 canyon at4 is been in the shop for 29 days now. Warranty issues.... Yeah that's right. 8000 miles and a month in the shop. Piece of junk if you ask me.

That’s why I never get the new version of any model run. Love my 22 AT-4 and the V-6.

I love the BAK Revolver! It's a hard rolling cover that doesn't block your view as much as most folding )when you open your bed up). I have usually have a rack on my bed rails for bikes and kayaks, so rollers and folding tonneaus won't work. I went with a Roll N Lock retractable. I love the thing!

That looks nice on your truck. Also, I'm envious of your 3 car garage! I'm already wondering how I'm going to store my road & mtn bike and a few items that are currently in front of my pop-up trailer. That space would be taken by the Canyon.. but I'll deal with that when it becomes an issue :)

It's nicer now. I had 2 kids at home until very recently. With them, my wife and a work truck, I would have 5 cars to deal with. It really sucked during winter, trying to clear snow! LOL Having just retired, we are down to 2 cars and the extra space is incredible! :)
