Just purchased a black 2024 AT4X AEV. 6.2. Idk if I should be excited or worried. 😟 I see a lot of people on here having horrible experiences with the 6.2 blowing up as well as transmission problems after the 60k warranty.

I wish I had found this forum before hand. Are my fears after reading all these post justified or can I relax a bit. This was a huge expensive purchase for me. Worked a lot of firefighter/paramedic overtime in order to own this truck. It’s my first time owning a truck. I have loved the AT4X since I have seen it but now I’m scared 😱 I spent all that money on something that’s going to break down, blow up, not be reliable, and not last.

I’m also about to drop a shit ton of money on Borla exhaust, cold air intake, rock lights, window tint, paint protection film, ceramic coating, etc. However, after reading these stories have me wanting to cancel all of that and sell the truck immediately before it breaks. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated

Welcome friend. Yes there have been issues with the 6.2, however just enjoy the new ride. I have not had any issues with mine, and I'm sure there are alot on this form that have the 6.2 also without any issues. Enjoy your accomplishments, it's a lot of money for a vehicle. You have a warranty, it's a awesome truck, and the 6.2l screams. So sit back, get your upgrades, and have fun. Now share some pics, and keep us updated on your new baby. If you have any questions on the truck, upgrades, etc, let me know my friend.

Don’t stress about it! Bought my wife a 21’ yukon 5.3 regardless of the lifter issues and all that other stuff. Just drive it and do your regular maintenances and everything should work out!

Thanks for your input. I was definitely spinning out a bit. I will definitely share the pics. The 6.2 definitely screams a semi tried merging over to the passing lane as I was halfway to passing the trailer. I mashed the gas pedal blew by him without him side swiping me and wasted 1/4 tank of gas lol. but it was definitely impressive to feel that for the first time. Will definitely ask questions if I have any. Thanks again

The 6.2 seems to effortlessly run the truck compared to the 5.3. I've owned both. So how I run mine... I run the truck in L9 for everyday driving around town. It keeps the truck from deactivating the cylinders, and keeps all 8 cylinders running. Saving those internals from wearing out. Now on highway driving, and long highway road trips i leave the truck in drive and let the truck do it's thing. I also " everytime I start the truck" deactivate the stupid auto start stop function.

I will have to try running mine in L9 for everyday driving. I also dislike the auto start stop function. First thing I turn off ad soon as I get in. I was really hoping Pulsar would come out with an update but i definitely have seen the work around was running it in L9. I will have to try it out and can’t beat saving the internals from wearing out. I appreciate the tips 🙏🏽

I'm here to help out bud. Now enjoy your new ride, and start the upgrades. You can search mine, and many others on this form. If you have questions speak up, the guys/girls in here any extremely helpful and knowledgeable.

Thanks again. And will definitely ask questions if I have them.

I read a lot about 6.2L issues too, but got a buddy at work with a 8yo 6.2L in a 1500, he loves wringing that thing out, no problems. If it keeps you up at night, get the extended warranty

Congrats on the new truck. Like others have said “ enjoy “, no sense of being worried about it breaking down. You have warranty. As per oil changes, I would not follow recommended intervals, change it sooner. And keep an eye on the oil level, especially when new during break in period.. several stories here of folks using quite a bit of oil during this time.

Appreciate the info I will be sure to keep an eye on oil. I was planning on changing at 5,000 miles anyways

In my opinion the 6.2 problems are, while verifiably true, very overblown (no pun intended).

Most people don't take the time to rant and rave when a product is fantastic. Those who have had issues, while I definitely feel for them, spread the word like wildfire.

You've got a badass truck and more likely than not you'll never have a thing to worry about (y)
