New 2024 AT4 Step Bar with Door Protection

I’ll be in possession soon of a new 2024 1500 Duramax AT4 coming with the GM AT4 high clearance steps, and I’m not a fan. Looking for a wider step but not nerf bar. Maybe just a wider off-road running board? I’d like something that sticks far enough out from the truck to offer door protection from passenger cars. Also would like something that protects the door sill from kicking with boots/shoes.

I’ve read older threads. Big Kahuna seemed to have some he wanted to trade out but never identified them.

Any ideas? Thank you for the help.

Sounds like you should look at the off-road sport steps from gm. They protect all of the gravel that gets kicked up, hitting the doors and the bed.

I use the outside tube to kick off mud/snow, before entering cab. They don't fill up with mud, off roading.

I think they are optioned on the at4 model.

Thanks…let me take a look. I wish I could have waited to order my AT4 like I wanted, but there was already on the lot. I sold my F150 yesterday.

Good question that I can answer tomorrow. I can stand a sheetrock tee square up against the steps and take a picture for you. It's too cold and windy to go out to the shop and check, tonite.

I would think opposing doors would hit the steps before paint. I don't own a car to check.

Looks like there is a 1.325" inset from the step to sheetmetal paint...

I didn't get it to come thru, but there is a .125" gap between tee-square and door handle...

I had this same concern. I actually like the way the high clearance steps look but didn’t like how close they are to the truck. When I had the front of the truck clear bra’d I had them cover the threshold as well. Works great.

If you like power running boards I just leave them down if I’m parked in a place where someone could door ding me…then put them back to normal when I leave.

These are what I’m getting on the truck, but they don’t look wide enough for protection . I’ll have to see when the truck arrives tomorrow. What kind of wheel/tire setup are you running? Those look great! Is yours Titanium Rush Metallic? That’s what mine is.

I think you’re right about this. I took delivery of my AT4 Carbon Pro last night that came with the high clearance steps. Standing next to the truck and looking down, I think they they protect both doors. Going to open my sedan doors next to them to check. The stock 20” wheels also look better in person than online. Not sure it I’ll upgrade just yet…

Congratulations! Enjoy your new ride. Just curious if they also changed 20 inch wheel design. I like new 18 inch lot.
