First post here. I just picked up a 2024 2500HD AT4X 6.6 diesel. Man this thing is sweet. I had a 21 1500 elevation prior and I upgraded to pull a trailer.

I'm new to diesels so I have questions about Regens and diesel additives.

How do you know when it's in regen?
I got some hotshots extreme and edt for the fuel so I'll start using them. any other things i should know about owning a diesel?

any other must know things about diesel and must do things to the truck?

I've installed some low profile vent visors and some bull ring hooks in the bed and i will get a bed cover soon. i was able to reuse my bed mat from the 1500.

I'm not a chrome guy so I'm looking to black out the emblems (prob leave the red though). Hyperdip seems to have good reviews but how long does it really last?

I'm getting ppf on the front of the truck and the 4 door sills then a ceramic coat on the entire truck. i will also be tinting out the front driver/pass windows and adding a brow to the windshield.

I'm looking forward to getting miles on this truck so i can start towing with it.

Oh, the phone charger wouldn't work no matter what I did (case on, case off, phone facing in or out). It would charge for a few seconds then stop.
What I did to get it to work was I added some 1/4" thick piece of foam to the bottom of the charging dock and now the phone charges without issues (case on and facing either way).
Hope that helps others out there.

I recently did the plasti dip on tailgate. I was planning to peel the black off and expose the red also but I like it like this now. My phone usually charges but it is very sensitive to position. What phone do you have? Probably important info because a spacer made it work better.

Welcome! Congratulations, nice looking ride. The hyper dipped will last years without any issues just as long as you prep and apply it correctly. Here are my hyper dipped emblems. Went with bronze to match the grill.

Congrats on the new rig!

I’m also new to the diesel duramax. Had a 19 ram 1500 rebel. Have around 15,000 kms on it. Just bought a bunch of amsoil injector cleaner and cetane boost. Used one bottle of it and haven’t really noticed anything from a mpg or power stand point. Will get amsoil diesel all in one for winter coming up and get some more amsoil PI for my wife’s Yukon 5.3.

Also with regen I can’t tell if it’s doing it or not from a sound or smell perspective. I think only way to figure it out is with a BENKS monitor.

You can watch the real time fuel mileage on the dic. The mileage will tank, when the 9th injector fires up to burn the soot out of the dpf.

I did notice it the other day that the mileage was going down on my trip out to the restaurant with my family. On the way back, mpg was gaining.

Speaking of mpg, i know it's all relative to the driver and conditions but what are you guys getting?

Are any of you towing with the truck?
I have a heartland torque 26T toyhauler that I'll be towing once I hit 1000 miles. The trailer weights about 9000-10,000 lbs (haven't got on the scales yet) and my father in laws 2022 2500 diesel tows the camper well with a equilizer hitch.
I'll post up pics of the truck and trailer once I get it my mileage on the truck.

Welcome to the forums it will be interesting for me to watch your journey as our trucks are very similar except mine is the AEV edition. My best mileage so far is 19 and some change but my running average is around 15 because it really takes a dip when I'm off road. I have not towed yet because we are still deciding on a trailer. I believe your model should see much better mileage than mine especially with your tire choices .
Hopefully you are aware there is a recall for intermittent trailer brake failure I'm making my appointment today for that as well as a first oil change as I just hit 2000 Miles.

I did not know that about the recall. the truck is going back in a couple weeks for them to touch up the door sill so i'll mention to them about the recall.
so far, the last 2 days back and forth to work, i'm getting 14-16 mpg but that has no highway and only 17 mile trips.

i notice that my massage seat comes on every time i start the truck. not sure if that is a setting i hit or if it just always comes on.

You need to turn massage function off, set your seat positions etc. then save it as Setting 1, 2 or both in your driver setting switch. Also disable seat retracting in 'exit vehicle setting' before saving Settings else it does not save settings. I'm sure others here can provide a more polished step by step explaination.

i don't mind it being on, actually nice. if i want it i keep it on for a while or if i don't, i just hit the cancel button on the side of the seat.
now for the exit vehicle setting. what is that exactly?

i see you have the under seat storage in your sig. can you snap some pics of that for me? how do you like it vs the oem configuration.
