Anybody just try to do the muffler delete on their AT4 with the 6.2 engine? Was thinking about going that route to save a few bucks. Just didn't know about the cab drone and sound of exhaust. Any info or experience on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I deleted mine several months ago. For me, the drone is very noticeable around 1500rpm, which is about 65-70 mph. While driving, we don’t have to yell to have conversations and we can talk at a normal volume. It can get “tiring” on longer drives, but I don’t mind.
I really enjoy the sound. It’s nice and deep at idle and I think it sounds good through the whole rpm range.
I would recommend removing the flapper the first time. I didn’t and just haven’t had the chance to go back and have them remove it. It rattles more now than it did before the delete and at normal idle before it’s warmed up it’s pretty loud. Overall I am happy I went this route over full exhaust, primarily for the cost savings. My exhaust budget is going towards my wife’s 2022 suburban, we’re getting her the Corsa exhaust.

Did mine a few weeks ago. Cut out the factory and installed a Borla Touring muffler. Did a little custom work of my own with some stainless steel fittings from Amazon and it fits up perfectly. Nice deep tone but not stupid. I’m 52 and not wanting anything too aggressive. Got everything off Amazon and did it all myself.

Same here, I am also 52, and also really didn't want anything to crazy loud, just a nice v8 rumble.
Truck with a big V8 really should sound accordingly.

I have done the muffler delete on my 22' refresh 6.2 now for almost a year. It sounds great and I get lots of compliments on it. I do however find the drone in the cab a little too loud when towing a trailer or through certain rpm ranges while driving long distances. I have been contemplating putting a muffler on to help with this but not sure what one to go with. I don't want to lose too much volume but would love to tone down the drone. I have been thinking about adding a Borla Atak or Borla Type-S muffler but can't decide which one. I only deleted the muffler and flapper valve, I left the 2 rear resonators as well. If someone could advise that has maybe done one of those mufflers, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Hopefully, this information helps some people.
FYI, since doing the muffler delete I have also noticed a few more rattles and vibrations inside the cab as a downside that I hope the muffler will help lessen or eliminate.

I did replaced the factory muffler a few months after getting it with a hi flow and like some of you are saying the drone inside was a bit too much. Ended up going the Borla sport route and the drone is all but gone now, much better. Probably still pisses off the neighbors on cold start but only lasts about 30 seconds. Big plus is the carbon fiber tips, absolutely hated the stock tips even blacked out.

for those that experience new noises and rattling after doing the muffler delete, is this with new piping welded in or the delete kits that you clamp in?

In my situation with the vibrations and rattles, its fully welded. No clamp on stuff. Had a shop do the work and the welds are great.

I never experienced any rattling or vibration. I made mine a bolt in setup. Glad I did, I took it out and put factory back in. I like the quietness off factory. I guess I’m to the age where I can do without the extra noise! Lol. Selling the muffler setup if anyone is interested. I only had it in the truck for maybe 50 miles so it’s still basically new.

I’ve got almost $300 into it. Will sell for $250. I went with the Touring so there wouldn’t be any drone. Not much louder than stock when driving. It’s a little louder at start up but the quiets right down. I have a few videos but they are not that great. You can contact me @989-239-6242 and I can send them to you
