I have an extra set of the fender lights for my truck and wanted opinions for my mod?

Should I have the entire light smoked with a tinted clear coat over the entire light?
Or
Smoked the same but have the GMC left visible? Masking tape the letters for them to glow full brightness.

Note- I installed the boost auto smoked lights on my last truck. The BA lights do not light up the entire light like factory, brighter in the center dimming at the top/bottom and very dim left/right the farther they get away from center. Kind of like an oval glow in the center fading out. Not going that route again.

The factory light has a uniform brightness and the nice lens design with the GMC and other accents.

I would leave the gmc un-tinted.

What are you using that will survive the elements/car wash?

I read the same on the BA lights, that's why I haven't ordered them. Their bottom heated mirrors work good though.

Automotive Clear coat with Automotive black mixed in diluted. Then a coat or two of Clear Coat after I get my desired smoked color.

That’s why I left them on the old truck.
I have been meaning to contact BA about buying just the harness to have the markers flash with turn signal.

I'm a gear head, not a dust dude. Didn't know you could mix paint and clear together. I have enough problems with rattle cans!

This thing is screaming for blacked out fender lights.

I have had a few custom paint jobs done. A Harley of mine I worked with a buddy and made a black with hidden orange metallic flake. He did black base coat, then black with the orange flake, a tinted clear, and finish clear coats. The bike looked black as night in shade or overcast but if the sun hit it right it lit up the body lines with an amber sparkly orange hue.
You’re going down a shit road to do that Dually. My 2021 was a Denali Dually that still has the BA lights. It looked damn good though.
The Dually fender moldings are attached with adhesive. They will not come off right and GM doesn’t sell a replacement molding with adhesive tape or have any information on a tape or glue for them to hold flush on the Dually fender.
I said F it and drilled holes on the inside of the fenders to access the screws and put in rubber plugs.

Myself, I would draw up the size of it and then cut out the GMC and leave the rest in black or color match to your body.
