Recently purchased the mai70 Omni dash cam. Link to donslife preview video below.
Went ahead and hardwired it in so I could have parking surveillance mode. I’m a physician in Memphis and have to leave my truck in an unfenced, public lot (requires badge in/out for parking, but still…) for anywhere from 12-36 hours at a time, so the parking surveillance was a big selling point for me. I also didn’t want a camera facing into the cabin at all times and wanted the dash cam to be as small as possible.
Hardwiring it was fairly easy. Just attaching the wires to a constant battery fuse and an accessory fuse. Works fantastic while driving; has lots of voice commands to rotate the camera and record as directed. App is probably a 5 out of 10 on user-friendly scale—you have to connect to its wifi hotspot to use it, which means disconnecting from CarPlay, etc. Downloaded videos are really great quality. Pretty impressive for a small camera.
Overall, good camera so far, but will all hinge upon whether the surveillance mode works. Time will tell….
