I have a 2022 1500 AT4 6.2 V8 with about 27,000 miles. Since about 5K miles I've been getting a message coming up on my dash at about 35% of the oil life saying "Low Oil warning/ Add Engine Oil". If you pull the dip stick out there's oil, but if you reinsert to check it again it's bone dry! First time it happend I B lined it straight to the dealership. They started an oil consumption test and wanted me to come in every 2K miles to check the levels (Pain in the A$$). Now at 27000 miles, I still get the message coming up and the same oil level reading on the dip stick. I've been taking it in and they have no answers for me.. Anyone one else experience this same thing? I'm about to look into a lemon process with this truck..

Do you have visible emissions? Heavy carbon deposits around the tailpipe?

I would do what the dealer asks. Heavy oil consumption should be a recall issue.

I also have start to experience this. I have a 2022 6.2 V8 as well. the first time I seen the message on the dash was around 24k. The dealer said it was normal consumption. Just hear 5k later after the oil was change I got another message and the oil was about 2.5 quarts low. I will be visiting the dealer again, because I do have heavy carbon deposits around my tailpipes.

For reference, I have a 77 Silverado with a 20 year old 5.7L engine. It doesn't consume oil.

Had a 2020 Silverado with 6.2...same exact oil issues you are describing. Since new. Engine blew at 45k miles Last December. One week after fresh full oil change.

Welcome to GM’s 6.2 liter problem child.
Had a 21 Denali went through the oil consumption process for 3 months finally met the goal you would say for a compression check found 4 cylinders low compression and valves guide worn out. Upon tear down found cylinder walls scored.
Replaced engine 3 times first two failed instantly. Wile waiting on the third engine the dealer bit the bullet and tried me up to a 22 AT4 currently have 42000 on it and using oil and oil consumption test being done and 1000 miles ago they checked it and said it was 1/4 qt low. Just had the low oil light come on so that means it has to be at least 2 quarts low. Headed to the dealer while on vacation to have the record it.
Very aggravating that GM cannot build an engine that will last.

I have 2 2021 GMC Acadias 3.6LT and have seen the same error with the same results ...dry dip stick even after adding oil and inspecting the engine for leaks. The funny thing is, both vehicles had the the alert @ 55% oil level. One does extensive ong drives while the other does short runs...this seems to be an engine design issue with GMC and requires a recall but I am stuck moving forward.

I had the same issue on my 2022 AT4X 6.2, which started around 45k miles. When the message first popped up, my service advisor blamed it on long idling time, which I assured him I do not do. We started the oil consumption protocol, and I maintained my 5k oil change intervals. At 55k miles I had an oil change and while driving home RIGHT AFTER, my engine bit the dust due to the known bearing issue. I had barely made it onto the service road in front of the dealership.

You do know that with a warm engine you must pull the dipstick, clean and insert again before pulling again to get a good reading. This is due to oil being slung around with engine running. On a cold engine there has been sufficient time for the slung oil to settle and you dont need to do that but I do anyway.

I just had this happen today on my way to work. It seems to be an ongoing issue with this truck. Has anyone heard that a recall will be issued?

I also have a 22 1500 at4 with the 6,2 and 55000 miles. I put on 12000 miles since I bought it used and never had an oil level issue. After I had my truck in for the conversion to 0w-40, I put on 200 miles and before a trip checked the oil. The level was on the bottom of the dipstick. I went straight to the dealership, with no appointment, and drove right into the bay. I was pretty worked up and gave the service agent a piece of my mind. He calmly arranged to get it in. The documentation that I got in the end stated that the oil was fine, and then it was shy two quarts of oil. My first comment to the advisor was that they forgot to put enough oil in during the changeover. He disputed that happening. After inspecting for leaks and a test drive I got my truck back with no charges. Of course I was checking the oil level on a regular basis. 400 miles and everything is fine, 1200 miles and everything is fine. 3000 miles and everything is fine. I communicated these results back to the service agent each time. Before I left the dealership that day, the advisor suggested that I monitor the level and if it continued to go down they would just have to replace the engine. My conclusion is that they actually failed to put enough oil during the 0w-40 conversion. I also get the impression that the idea of replacing the engine is not a unique theory.
