I initially wanted to level out my truck and put 35s, but ran into a ton of issues and I could not find any solution on this forum. So here’s my story and hopefully you like the look with my specific wants and it helps you build your truck with ease.

In my situation, I just wanted a suspension level to fit 35s on stock 20” rims, w/ no puck and no spacers b/c I don’t trust them. I wanted the truck to look OEM+ or bubba look. I’ve seen them done on many trucks w/ stock control arms, however, I didn’t trust stock UCA’s going more than 3” above what they were intended. So, after many forum reads here, I decided on cognito ball joint UCA’s, bilstein B8 5100 front, and B8 5160 rear. I would’ve wanted a complete strut from Bilstein, however, with the 3.0L engine they didn’t allow it to be put on. I bought 35x12.50R20 nitto ridge thinking they’d fit and I was assured by the mechanics. Install process went great till we put on the tires and rubbed the UCA badly. This is due to the +28 offset on the rims which sucked. Put on 3/8” spacers, it barely fit but the lug nuts wouldn’t torque down. So, went to 1.5” spacer (smallest spacer over studs to not cut them). I didn’t like tires that poke a ton, and I had issues running the truck. It took much more force to brake, insane decline in MPG, rubbed a ton turning even though I cut a lot of fender liner and part of the body, and I felt uncomfortable with spacers on. Took the tires and spacers off and went back to my stocks so I can run them bald till i figure a way to get the look I wanted.

Fast forward to yesterday, finally got the courage to get 275/65R20 nitto ridge. I wanted 285, however, the spacing between the tire and the UCA was super small. Now, the truck looks exactly what I wanted with slightly smaller tires, it rides much better with the shocks, off road capable, no rub at all when turning, and I have space between tire and UCA.

Take it from me and learn from my mistakes. In the end, I’m extremely happy and comfortable how it currently sits as I drive 70-100 miles a day and go off road for work with the occasional 2300 mile round trip drive to go home on my time off. Now, I’m in the hunt for a camlocker toolbox (I’ll post how I put it in the bed later since I have the Carbonpro bed), banks iDash, grille light bar, and whatever else I like.

Looks good. What did you do to the wheels?

Thanks for sharing. I had my learning experiment fitting 35x12.50's on my Suburban with a 2" lift. Pain in the ***.

Biggest thing I advise anyone looking into lifting and going much bigger than OEM is to reach out to the lift kit manufacturers directly to inquire about what will fit with your specific desires.

I'm currently waiting on a leveling kit from kryptonite for my HD and went back and forth with them. Once I get it installed I am going to compare tire sizes using the online comparison tool and measure things out. Backspacing is important. Discount Tire for example won't work on your tire if you're running spacers whatsoever.

I'm kind of set on wheels right now - black rhino sentinels. Just don't know if I want a 12mm or -18mm offset. Remains to be seen.

Also many people don't know this but when you go much bigger in tire size, you need to calibrate your speedometer. Otherwise you're hunting gears, MPG goes to crap and it just doesn't drive right.

No calibrators out there for 24 HD's (yet).

Glad it turned out the way you wanted!

Thank you. This is the look I am after as well

Cognito appears not to need changed offset wheels. Kryponite Is coming out with 1500 upper control arms- I’m on waiting list for them

Looks good. I agree stock looking but a bit beefier is the way - 35s on stock rims i don't think would ever work without living with some of the issues you mentioned.

I put 34s (295/60R20) on +20 offset wheels that look similar to my stock wheels and have barely any rub, only at full lock on a reverse descent.
- Yes, slightly different vehicle but not by much.

Would you mind posting which specific Cognito UCAs are you referring to? I’d greatly appreciate it and I’ll take a look. Thanks

Here u go
Sweet, I’d love to use the Cognito 110-91207 that you recommended. I run Bilstein 5100s at 1.1” adjustable height, and I’m concerned about the UCA Clearing my stock tires 275/65 R18.

I messaged Cognito and they said as long as the distance from center of the lower eyelet to the mounting face at the top of the strut hat is less than 23.7” it should be compatible. Now I need that specific measurement on an assembled stock AT4 Coilspring and Bilstein 5100 1.1” strut assembly

Thanks for sharing, the truck looks great. Do you know what the part # on those Cognito UCAs was? I’m seeing a Press-In Style Arm and a Tubular Bolt-In Style on Cognito’s website both compatible with the AT4s. I see one requires the service perch to be cut off and the other doesn’t. Any help would be appreciated because my setup is very similar to yours.

Oh no, nothing has been done to them. That’s how I received the truck. Seems to be for carbon pro at4’s, but I may be wrong.
Yes, this is the color that comes on the carbo pro package. I actually sold mine and downsized to an 18" to get more rubber for traveling lease roads in Texas.
