Just picked up my new 2500 AT4 a little bit ago and I love the truck. The features and setup, though, can be a bit...challenging. In addition to the infotainment screen itself, there are a ton of buttons, switches, etc. that I'm discovering when I have time to do it, and I don't really want to be trying to figure out interior lighting, screen setup and saving favorite channels while I'm driving.
What issues have you run into? What tips do you have? Any 'hidden' features you can share?

I would recommend watching some youtube videos so you can see the tips and tricks associated with your truck.

Haven't come across any hidden features, per se, but when I got my truck to the house I sat in it for about an hour fiddlin' with all the different screens, buttons, steering wheel controls, etc. Just when I thought I had it set up the way I wanted...I would discover some other feature! I think I have it where I want it now. I recommend just taking your time with it.

The only issue I have is with the tailgate button location. I am consistently opening the tailgate by accident. I wish there was an interlock built in to that circuit that won't allow the gate to be opened when in the truck is in gear. It opened up on me driving down I-65 recently. Thankfully there was nothing in the back!

I despise the tailgate down buttton. First, I do not need to be able to drop the tailgate while in my truck. Second, and most importantly, the button drops the tailgate while driving, which is just stupid. As a contractor, not only do I have tools/etc in my truck bed, but also pull a trailer often. Dropping the tailgate will hit the trailer crank, plus depending on which trailer, could crush the tailgate into the trailer if it drops down while pulling a trailer and going around a tight corner.

It is just a dumb design that at the very least needs to have a way to deactivate it. I have been meaning to make a piece of metal or plastic that will prop it open and make it unable to be pressed down, but one shouldn't have to do that on a 80K truck. If one could just disable the switch somehow - which would mean digging into the dash - to cut or disconnect a wire, I would do that. But who knows what or if other problems/codes would pop up then.

Just give us a way to disable the button, please, GM.

And thankfully you didn't have a trailer hooked up.

Believe it or not once you start taking a dash apart they are not all that bad. Some videos might show where to start. I would imagine simply disconnecting the button would not cause any issues, you just have to get behind that row of buttons to do it.

Small issue: Can the speedometer be put on the right side of the drivers information center? I am used to it there on pretty much every other vehicle I have owned.

Thanks, might give it a try!

Crazy to me that someone thought it was better to switch the position of these. Even more amazed they don’t allow it to be configured.

I found this YouTube video of a Chevrolet switch panel. Here they are disabling start stop but it shows a pretty good bit of how to get the dash dissasembled. It will be somewhat different on a GMC of course. It appears that each switch does not have its own connector. This would make it much harder to disable just the tailgate switch. One way to do it would be to cut the right wire but I never want to cut a wire in a vehicle harness.

Thank you for that!

I don't think I would want to cut a wire either. Too bad each switch doesn't have it's own wires one can disconnect!

Thank you for the effort and posting the link, I much appreciate it!

You need to take the truck into dealer. Something is wrong. Dash button should only work in Park, same with the tailgate buttons.

Cant believe how many times I have to go back to the cab and put it into Park and go back to the tailgate to drop it. I live in flat country. Leave the truck most times in neutral, running, to put or retrieve something quick in the bed. That way I just drop it into Drive and go, without having to press the brake pedal to get it out of Park. Damn button on tailgate won't work without truck in Park.

This is interesting info. I had no idea the tailgate was not supposed to drop unless it is in park. Unless there is a setting somewhere I have missed?

I really should do the key fob thing where the upper part of the multi-gate will not drop, as I never use that either. For me, the multi-gate is an expensive, easily damaged, and useless "feature". I am not so much concerned with that however, it is that my whole tailgate will drop while driving if I accidentally hit the button in the cab.

Thanks for the info!

Try this...drop the midgate...then try dropping the tailgate multiple ways (fob, button or dash) should not drop.
