Has anyone utilized the "invisible trailer" function on their truck? I am going to be pulling a large 4 place snowmobile trailer and thought it would be a nice feature. I have confirmed the camera connections are in the trailer plug assembly. Is it worth the effort? Can you use any camera or do you have to spring for the $450 GM camera?

I usr it all the time I am towing, however . . . and I am sorry not to have caught this sooner, but you have probably already figured this out.
short answer , yes you need the camera, it is calibrated to work with the system.
also , it is not designed to function with a non-fully enclosed trailer. it requires VERY accurate placement on the back wall/door of the trailer.

Do you think this is something that could be used to mount a camera to a bed cap and keep the rearview, or will the settings not allow it to run that close?

that won't work. there cam needs to be at the very back of the trailer and at a very specific height from the ground. the computer needs to be able t see what is behind the trailer as it already has eyes on the front and sides.
