You realize that there is nothing included with that except the actual camera itself. No mount, no cables, no nothing. It is for people that have the existing full "kit" that upgraded their trucks as the older cameras are not compatible with the newer trucks. Plenty of OEM kits available on Market Place, eBay, classifieds etc.

Hi
I’m going to add the invisible trailer camera using the Etsy kit https://www.etsy.com/listing/1767156186/trailer-camera-kit-for-silverado-and

Has anyone else done that and how did it work out?

Secondly how did you attach the camera to your trailer, I’m planning on just using the 3M tape, but I’m not sure how well it will hold up in the long term. Anyone else just using tape?

Thanks
That kit you have listed is for a camera case only. There is no camera included. The factory cameras are expensive but like others have said look marketplace and eBay for one.

Sorry. I wasn’t clear. Yes that’s just the mount
There are a few write ups out there that walk through the other components.

But I will also trawl eBay, Thanks for the pointer.

With the GMC kit now at $650, I took the plunge, considering the cost not much risk.

* Cable from Segemart $50.38 but became $85.35 after shipping and Tariff surcharge
* Camera from GMC, part# 85573256, $116.65, but I used my GM points so just paid $9 tax
* 3M Tape from Amazon $22.93 (it's a long roll!)
* ebay mount $24.84 (thaks for the tip less than Etsy)

So I'm $142.12 out of pocket.

Fingers crossed it all works, it will be a couple of weeks before I get a chance to install it, but I will let you know

Can you post more information or links for the parts.
It will be much appreciated.

I have a pop up trailer.
I did the “inexpensive” route, which didn’t save me much — the original camera I ordered was incorrect, then I missed the return window.
As for mount, I welded a bracket to come off the spare wheel, also positions my camera properly

I went this route, actually did this to two trailers. One trailer I used the tape directly to the trailer wall, the other I used tape to an L bracket. Both have been on for several months and are holding up fine. I did also order two cameras that did not work. GMC was out of the cameras when I ordered so I couldn't get the camera by itself. I ended up order a camera that came in a bracket for the mirror, then just took that camera out of the mount and it worked fine.

Keep in mind on my camera housing there was a slightly recessed portion on the mounting surface, so I ended up using the Gorilla max strength two sided tape as it was a bit thicker than the 3M and has some super fancy mesh layer .

I also followed the mounting height directions on one trailer but mounted the camera higher on the second trailer. Both work fine for invisible trailer, the higher one just isn't quite perfectly aligned on the screen, but it doesn't really bother me.

Camera Hack

As long as you use the links for the housing and cable in that youtube video, and this camera number GM 85622815, you will be fine.

None of the Amazon or other parts suppliers have the proper camera. I tried 3 before i gave up. I got the camera assembly directly from GM I think it was 100 bucks.

Recently purchased a new 2025 at4x 2500
I have an older GM trailer camera from 2020
What camera do I need to upgrade?
Also, can I use the existing cable with the originalconnectors
Just wondering, which one I need
85622815 or 85573256

It’s been a while but managed to complete this project today with all the components above.

Some tips and what worked for me
* don’t install the camera upside down (ask me how I know!)
* don’t scratch the camera lens (don’t ask me how I know)
* do crimp the ends as per this video to get a good connection.
* my RV has a rear outdoor kitchen so I simply zip tied the cable to the propane line
* our Trailer has a rear ladder which I can see on the camera but it didn’t stop the truck calibrating.
85573256
* the 3D printed mount from eBay was expecting a right angle connector my cable was straight, it was just a 5 min job with a drill and knife to make it fit
* buy a shorter roll of that 3M tape I only used about 6 inches!

Hope that helps
