Hello. I had a unfortunate meeting with a very VERY large doe 2 weeks ago, while heading home from going down to Florida, and hauling my Harley. I was on I-88 in Upstate NY. When the initial impact happened, I did have a split second to crank my wheel to the hard right to lessen the blow, without causing myself to flip or overcorrect. At the time, both seat heaters were on. The impact caused both curtain air bags to deploy driver seat bag deployed, and both front seat belts discharged. FYI, OnStar disabled my truck at impact, while I was trying to pull off to the right shoulder to clear the road. this part SUCKED. After talking with them for a few seconds, they were able to enable the truck so I was able to pull off further to the shoulder. Once the accident report was done, The officer let me go, as I was only 56 miles from my home, but I had to cut the curtain bags down after stabbing them to deflate. I was able to pull off at the next exit with a service station, to cut out the inner front fender from going under the tire, to verify that I did have lock to lock steering without interference, doctor up the nose a little so parts weren't flying off, then headed home. It seems that at the point of impact, my heated/cooled seat functions for both front seats no longer works. I've asked my GM tech friend, but they had no idea as they've never had to deal with this. I looked up on line only to find that MAYBE if I unplug the seats from the modules, let them sit for a while, then reconnect them, the seats MAY come back, or it's possible that the seat side bag deployment killed that circuit. I looked at the fuse, and they seem ok. Does anybody have any idea if this is due to the air bag being deployed, and won't work again until the seat is replaced, or is it just a module thing? My snap on scan tool, is only good up to 2012/2013, so i'm not able to communicate to the modules via scan tool.

Thank for any input,
Mike

Cant help with the seat heaters. I have never even turned mine on. What angers me is the part of Onstar disabling the vehicle. I want to always be able to make that decision. I can think of circumstances where I NEED to drive a damaged vehicle away to avoid further injury.

I would hate Onstar to control my vehicle. Fortunately I don’t subscribe to that service.

I dont either but it's still active. A good question for the OP: @Diabel1969 do you pay for Onstar or are you on a free trial?
I may be wrong but you are connected to Onstar response only if you subscribe to it; this has nothing to do with remote start or other long term services you get with a new truck.

If by remote start you are talking about with your phone I believe that is actually part of Onstar. I have never paid for it but new vehicles come with varying types of free trial. The full service I think only lasted a month but I still have limited services. I have not and never will pay them a dime.

Remote start comes free for three years with new vehicle. And vehicle diagnostics and reporting for longer.

My experience tells me that you may find an actual code for the seats to help you narrow down the actual problem. Get a fancy bi directional scanner and run a diagnostic. See what pops up. My experience also tells me that a lot of those systems are interconnected when one is giving off errors it'll affect everything else that has anything remotely to do with the problem system.

Now as far as onstar. When I was picking up my truck, I absolutely refused to install the GM app and after a while of not doing that, all my "free for 3 years" services to include onstar are disabled. They want me to subscribe. I can't recall but I also disabled some things in the truck settings. I only use android auto anyway and have no use for the GM garbage track me system

The salesman said that I "have to install the app" before I leave. I said it drove fine on the test drive so obviously I dont need the app. Actually I already had it and didnt want to waste the time there setting it all up.

Sounds like you may need a new salesman. I told mine no thanks, don't want to be tracked and he dropped it lol
