Improve MPG

Just recently put in 3000 miles on 2024 Sierra 2500 AT4 and average MPG is 9 to 10 MPG city.
Does anybody else have the same issue with MPG being lower?
Any recommendations on how to achieve better MPG performance.
Gas or diesel? My 6.6 has had never made less than 10mpg on a tank all in town. Do you have a lift or bigger tires?

It is Diesel. The 2024 AT4 is all original from the the dealer. I need a diagnostic check to see why the low MPG but service department are 2 month waiting list. They are very bad here with customer service.

I was always a Ram guy. I will say today's diesels don;t make the mileage pre 2005 diesels did! They all took a good break in period to make better mileage. The harder I worked them, the sooner the mileage came around.

I got that until I lightened up on the gas. Now I get 12.9 in the city consistently. Unless you have to gas up some long hills on you way back home, it's the lead foot.

I've stayed right around 14.7-15.4 for the past 600 miles not pulling anything. If I add a trailer over 2500lbs, it goes just below 12.
I keep my tank above 1/2 and the DEF above 1/2 and am at 4300 plus miles right now.

I don't really drive in the city, and I always get into it when I hit the highway to burn the DPF for a minute (about 87-94mph).

I pick mine up on Saturday. Not what I wanted to hear! I was hoping she would at least get a little better mileage then my 2009 Titan at 11 mph.

I’m getting 9.8 MPG but I only have 250 miles on the odometer. I’m hoping it gets much better!!!
Update. I put 275 miles on the truck this weekend and it’s averaging 12.5 MPG. So, it’s heading in the right direction and hopefully it will increase.

Duramax...11000 miles & getting around 13 city...a Labor Day weekend round trip to Taos & back to N Central TX averaged 17. Have 35x11.50 Toyo AT III and a 3.5" lift. MPG was worse around 7k miles but improved.

Wow! What a difference than the GMC Sierra AT4 with the 3.0 Diesel I recently purchased. I am on a trip right now and averaging right at 25mpg hwy. I have git as good as 31 on trips. Average around town is 21-23ish.

I’m at 4700 on my 24 HD gas and my average is around 12.5….i have seen as low as 10 something and on the highway around 15.

Currently over the 7000 mile range and it is averaging 12 MPG
I did ease up on the lead foot and it did help but not much. I was expecting much better MPG when I bought my GMC. but I realize that it is a gas hog.
Love Diesels but hate the DEF. I did read the DEF removal would greatly increase the MPG.

Getting around that on my duramax. Only have 2300kms on it. Long trips it does pretty decent but in city it’s pretty bad.
