I would like to hear from people who have moved from the 6.2 to the HD with 6.6 gas and 10 speed transmission.

I drove a 2024 Sierra AT4 HD Friday and LOVED it. They only have diesel models and I dont think I want or need the diesel but even the gas model in the HD line is much more capable for almost the same price. I'm struggling with the decision between 1500 and 2500 with gas and I thought my main concern has been that the 2500 is too long to fit in my garage and will actually be a tight squeeze in my driveway so that I can get Jeep out of the garage. I left the dealer thinking I was definitely going for the 2500 gas but found a few YouTube videos that were not happy with the power in the gas model with that much weight. I am definitely between a 1500 and 2500 would like to hear from people that have owned the 6.2 as well as the 6.6 gas with the 10 speed transmission. Was it a real difference?

Payload. My wife's Highlander has the same payload as the 1500s.

Besides payload, the difference between the 1500s and 2500s is real. And more than the difference between a std 1500 and one that has the max payload/trailing packages.

and yes, CC HDs with their 6'10" is a much bigger truck then a 1500 CC w/ a 5.5 bed

I went from a ram 1500 hemi which has way better payload compared to gmc/chevy 1500. Didn’t like how the payload was so low compared to rams. Went with a 2500HD at4 diesel which is my first diesel. Payload for the 2500 it’s quite a bit more then the gmc/chevy 1500. I have 3 kids and when we load up the truck I was suprised how close to the max would be with all 5 of us in a sierra 1500.

I'm aware the 2500 even with gas far outdoes the 1500 towing and capacity rating. I'm wondering about the power available and the acceleration comparison without towing or cargo, daily driving. Youtube videos say "this truck is SLOW".

I've never purchased a truck that was "fast" nor did I care. I suppose if I wanted one that was, it wouldn't be these 2500HDs with the gas 6.6. but a TRX with the 6.2 supercharged Hemi.

Go find a gas HD and decide for yourself. For me, mine has plenty of power, torque, and speed. But then again, I'm not on the u-tubes making videos...

Also have to think of resale value as well. Diesel holds their value compared to the gas models from what I have seen.

Buying a vehicle the way someone else would want it is like not driving it so the next guy gets a good deal. And not driving it so the next guy gets a good deal is like not having sex with your girlfriend so she's ..... well, you know.:D

When I need to go fast my 392 Wrangler will hang with the TRX for less money. I'm simply asking about a real world comparison between the 6.2 and 6.6.

lol....well, if you are driving your 392 Wrangler, then you aren't driving a truck anymore.

What are you trying to compare between the 6.2 and 6.6? And what is important to you? You already know the latter is more capable in regards to payload and towing and the former is a softer ride, smaller, and marginally quicker.

Only you know which dimensions are more important or hold less weight for your purchase decision.

not sure that holds given the 10K bump at purchase + increased maintenance over the life of the truck.

two quotes w/only Engine changed Duramax for gas. Not a perfect study, but better than anecdotal evidence.

I find in my area the duramax diesel is holding a better value compared to the gas. 20-23 2500 with the duramax with low miles to high (100,000+) still going for 80-90k

lol...well that's Canadian money and that silly metric system:)

what do you mean by holding a better value? that they are more expensive? of course, they start 10k more. Do they hold a better % of the purchase price? Marginally maybe but taking the increased fuel and maintenance cost over the lifetime, it's at best a small advantage and more likely no difference. That being said, I would agree the higher the milage, the bigger the difference.
