I want a cold air intake, tell me what to buy

I have always put one on my diesel’s and hot rods, but not my AT4x. There are a few responses on threads about cold air intakes here- some say it thro a code, no better mileage, no more felt power, no diff in exhaust sound. Just sayin- good data if you look before you spend the money. Good Luck! Post what you do- good or bad!

I went with Cold Air Inductions intake because I like the look of it better and uses the stock bottom of the air filter box. No complaints and just bought one for my wife's new Yukon

Other than looks- any benefits? Mileage, power, exhaust sound etc.?

I think I got a slight better improvement in milage like 1-2mpg. If there was any power increase it's not noticeable from the drivers seat. Don't know about exhaust note as I installed my borla s-type just a couple of days before I installed the intake. Also to be honest even in videos of people adding the intake and they say wow listen to that intake now and I can't hear anything lol.

Mine came with an OEM GM CAI. The dealer even programmed my truck for it and supposedly gives it 1-2 more HPs

My 2 cents. I wanted a positive CAI also but after looking at options, and the truck, most that I found all connect to the truck intake pipe at the grill. Since its opening is limited, no matter what is installed after that makes no real difference. You need to grab more air with a larger opening to produce more. So, I installed a K&N filter to let the truck breathe a bit better and saw little to no difference. For what its worth.

There is always a debate if CAIs work.
If I was purchasing one I would buy one like this K&N. It utilizes stock box and performance filter. Mine came stock with a GM OEM or I would of purchased it.

Kobra, that is exactly what I went with. I have spent $$ for other trucks, ending up with some noise but no real improvements. Since the air coming in is limited by size of the factory opening, I think this is as far as you need to go.

Purchased and installed a S&B on my 2023 AT4X AEV, it cave an error code within a week... Debating returning to the OEM.

Not sure if others had this issue but I needed the dealer to program it with a CAI. Good luck.

I used just the K&N filter.

I installed a K&N but took it off for some warranty work (didn’t want to give them any ammunition to not cover). I put about 2K miles on the K&N and noticed tons of residue inside the pipe. K&N sucks in air from the engine bay too, seems kind of counterproductive. I don’t recommend using anything but the factory box but just my two cents. Will not be putting back on but will be putting on a new intake tube, same concept as S&B intake tube. PPE is coming out with an intake tube that deletes all of the intake resonators to create more laminar flow - investing in that for sure. Release date looks like October 2023.
