Homelink Mirror

For anyone interested the Gentex Advent frameless mirror is a plug-n-play option if you'd like Homelink functionality without a GDO remote. I bought mine from Bob's Mirrors and it took less than 15 minutes to install.
Canyon must be different; my 2500HD AT4X AEV has a built in rear camera view although I don't particularly like or use the camera view.

I just installed mine a few weeks ago, and it works just fine for my garage door. The only issue I had was with the black plastic cover. I had to modify it a little with a grinding wheel so that it would fit around the mirror mount at the bottom. The OEM one is different if you put them side by side. I love it though. Auto dims and all. I would buy it again.

This post is exactly why I sought out a forum. No Homelink in the truck is an annoyance for me for sure. It sounds like the cover needs a small modification, but are there any other issues? Heading to Advent website, I found this mirror. "https://www.adventproducts.com/gentex/homelink-connect/". I wonder if it will be compatible. Did any of you need to buy any type of mounting adapter?

I only had to modify the cover everything else worked great once I hooked it up and programmed it. I did not have to buy anything else besides the mirror. Oh, I'm lying. I bought a battery powered grinder to grind the cover off Amazon for like $20. LOL

Well in my efforts to seek out a home link mirror, I discovered my auto dimming mirror wasn’t even plugged in. Not sure where the wiring harness that goes to it is, but I’m determined to find out what’s going on.

*Update*
Located the other end of the wiring, stuffed up inside the headliner. I went ahead and purchases the Gentex Frameless mirror with Homelink and Bluetooth capabilities. I decided to use the stock Wiring Harness Connector from the mirror, and attempted to re-pin the connector using the pins from the Gentex mirror. I ran into an issue with the Gentex pins due to them being slightly different then the GM harness pins, so they wouldn't fit into the stock connector properly. Ultimately I decided to dismantle the stock mirror, remove the stock mirrors wiring, and solder them to the Gentex mirror's wiring. A little shrink wrap here and its good to go. Ill post the wire layout for anyone who might need it.
