HI all, new to forum happy to see one for The AT4 family. Thanks for any help in advance.
So I have a 2019 AT4 6.2l, mods are a Rotofab air intake, upgraded throttle body, flow master exhaust, and a Pulsar LT. I am on my 3rd motor, after this last motor replaced by the dealer under warranty they told me to go get the truck tuned because the truck is running lean and they couldn't figure out why. So they told me to go get it tuned that should help the issue. I called a reputable tuner in my area explained the issue to him, his response was that I would have to figure out the overheating issue first before he would tune it, and told me that a tune wont help out my situation, so I would have to get it fixed first before he would touch it. I have changed the thermostat and engine cooling sensor since those were the cheapest and easiest fix, but to no avail. The overheating issue I'm having is when I'm driving at highway speeds 80-90 for no reason the truck will heat up to what temp I think is like 230 (the big marker between 210 and 260) randomly not all the time but most of the time, sometimes I could be doing 100+ with no overheating sometimes, but anything under 75 runs under 210 never overheats. when I do notice most of the time when I slow down to 70-75 cools back down real fast in seconds. I just noticed on this new motor but the last time it blew I was not noticing it was overheating cause it goes back down so fast if your not paying attention you wont even notice it I think that's how it blew both times before but now I noticed. No one can figure out this overheating issue I've talked to several different mechanics and mechanic friends no one really knows what it can be. I love my 6.2l and don't want to upgrade to a newer truck to have the same or other issues. I'm sure if I figure this out this time my engine would last alot longer... lol
Help anyone tnx for reading.

I don't know when the shutters were shoved up our a$$. Does your truck have them? If'n so, are the working correctly?

I can't stand the thought of closing off the air to the cooling system unless it's freezing.

I'm not sure but if I do is there a way to disable it?

Yeah, I read about a couple of ways.

1 was to completely remove the shutters and mount the shutter motor to something that doesn't move. It allows the motor actuator to move and I assume that is all that is necessary to not throw a code.

2nd is just to bow each louver in the middle, allowing the ends to come out of the louver frame.

I assume there is the ability in the software to disable the system, 'cause not all hd trucks have them. No drw's have them for instance.

Thanks for your response and shedding some light on the issue. I went ahead and removed them all by hand was real easy. Now its just a matter of waiting to see if that does the trick. Its crazy that it could be that easy I would have never know or figured that one out. I really think this could be it, after doing some research it looks like this is a common issue. Thanks so much again

That was it gemarsh, I have driven the highway several times at all kind of speeds and the needle has not moved passed the first 1/4 line what I believe to be 190.
Problem solved it's crazy that something so simple could cause catastrophic damage to the motor and never having known and very easily over looked by any mechanic even the DEALER over looked that issue, crazy. You hit it right on the nose.
AGAIN THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR RESPONSE!

Sometimes it can be the most obvious things that get overlooked. Glad it was a cheap fix.
