Happy with the 5.3 10 spd combo?

I have the 5.3/10 spd combo in my 2021 and so far no complaints. Although I have not towed anything yet with it, I have had a pallet of dirt as a payload and it did great. The shifting is really smooth with the 10 speed. I plan to take my daughters 27ft trailer out in the coming weeks to see how it tows.

I pick mine up on Tuesday! I couldn't justify the 6.2 and having to put 93 octane in it all the time. I don't pull much and the most I typically throw in the back is around a 1000 lbs. I’ve heard lots of good things about the 5.3/ 10 spd combo. Coming from a 2017 Nissan Titan Pro4X I think this will be a nice upgrade of a truck!

I was worried at first but since it was all that was available when I ordered my 2021 I went with it anyway. I am glad I got it and it is working out great (have over 50K troublefree miles to date). I tow a 20-foot Ranger bassboat with a 225hp outboard on a dual axle trailer and don't even know it is there. Love the trailer tire TPMS system also (although I did have to replace the module in the tailgate under warranty).

I'd love to drive one. I've driven the 5.3 with a 4spd, 6spd (own still) , and 8spd. Deep down, it's one of my favorite motors because I have over 500,000 trouble free miles between 3 of them. The new 10 spd in the HD gas is buttery smooth so I'd expect even more smoothness from the 1500 platform trans. Should be perfectly fine for what you need and beyond.

I havent had them in a truck, but i have two tahoes. A 2023 z71 with 6.2 (wife) and a 2023 z71 with 5.3(my daily driver). Honestly there really isn't much difference unless towing. The 6.2 definitly is better towing and isn't constantly reving.

Daily driver wise i prefer the 5.3, no 93 octane and its super smooth. I also have a 3500 Duramax for real towing so I don't put that in the equation. If I needed to tow much above 3500-4000lbs I would prefer the 6.2.
