I know this is a known issue as I have read so many posts on Facebook about it, some dealers are repainting or replacing them. I bought my 2020 back in December with appr 32k miles on it......bought an extended warranty thru another GM dealer, and now that the OEM warranty is up my dealer I bought it from says a third party called GM protect is denying it.

Has anybody in this forum had that issue and what was done to fix it.

My dealer said they could probably cover 1/2 the cost if they can't get it approved, so roughly $1000 my cost LOL

you could replace the bezels and use an overlay for the grill, I did this. Ik its not the answer you probably want but it looks good.

does the overlay install right over the factory grill, or are you talking like a vinyl wrap where you have to remove the grill first?
How hard was it to replace the bezels?

the overlay is a plastic that is shaped like the grill. It uses 3m tape to attach to the factory grill. I will post some pictures when my truck gets out of the shop. I purchased it off ebay. type in grill overlay for AT4. $150 ish

Here are the pictures of my fog bezel’s and GMC grill overlay.

My fog light ones are peeling. The grill was fine but I got a new one since my kid drove it into the house. Cost $500 deductible

Can I ask how you removed the old bezels? I'm doing the same thing. I already installed the grill overlay and next the bezels, if I can get the old ones off without breaking anything.

Watch the video from Dons life. Maybe a couple times. I did break one tab on the driver side. Definitely protect the paint like he says. I used a microfiber cloth too. The key is twisting and gently force. I would say you need more muscle than you think but also you can get frustrated and go Hercules and impatient like I did. It can be done. Once you understand how it comes off the second one is easier. I used a plastic pry tool and a metal pry tool for door panels. Even though I broke a tab the old chrome one would still go back on if I wanted it to. There are a lot of tabs holding those bezels on. Last the black insert inside the bezel has nothing to do with attachment to the truck. I thought it did. It’s attached to the bezel. And snaps onto the new ones. Hope this helps.

I watched the video on "Don's Life" and will try to remove the bezels on my truck. That "Don's Life" has all the info one could want.

Ya, he has some good stuff. Some is way over the top for me. Almost because I can stuff. But I guess you have too to keep people watching? He has helped my decision to do and NOT do things. I should video but I really dont know how or have the stuff to do it. I mod all my trucks for a personal touch. These forums are very helpful.

Ik not many people read this stuff, butt I thought I might add some information for those who might decide to do the front grill overlay. Its pretty easy to do but I would NOT install it in cold weather. I installed mine in Montana on a 80 degree day. I used the supplied "3M" tape. The install lasted about 2 weeks. I cleaned the surfaces with goo gone auto tar and bug cleaner and it still failed. The ends of the grill started to gradually come off. Ik it was a matter of time before water, snow, ice etc would cause it to separate further. Next install was on a 95 dgree day. I pulled the overlays off, there are 2, and removed the tape. It was way too easy. I purchased NEW auto 3M tape about 15 feet. I cleaned both the overlay surface area and the grill with the cleaner. I applied new tape the same areas before but also added more to the far ends of the overlay. I aplied the overlay and used preasure to adhere it to the grill. I could tell immediately the overlay was going to stick. I used long zip ties to secure the 4 ends. Using the zip ties for a few days is to make sure the ends seal. The directions from the overlay manufacture say to let the sun or heat activate the tape. I agree this helps with the install and make the tape very tacky. Problem with install on a cold day is the tape can not get tacky enough to adhere. The tape that came with the overlay is not 3M or if it is its a less quality. IMO if you want your overlay to last longer than a year or 2 too use new tape and NOT the original. Its easy to remove if its heated up. This should help the overlay protect your grill for years to come. Pictures to follow.

I need to get my front bumper painted as it has a lot of rock chips. Do you think they can or will paint the bezels and grille white for me or is it not worth it. I hate the way the peeling looks and want to get this fixed without buying a new grille.

I don't see why not since they have to pull them off to get to your bumper. But, Im not a automotive painter either could be something Im un aware of.

My painter said it would be too difficult and couldn’t guarantee the outcome. So I’m going to look into getting them wrapped before going to last resort and buying a new grill and bezels.
