Grill disassembly question

Wondering if anyone knows if the Vader black sections of the HD grill separate from the black primary grill?

I have taken the grill off in order to pain and reinstall the GMC in the past but did not look at that time how the black chrome looking pieces attach. It appears from the front they are separate pieces possibly clipped on the the main assembly.

My black chrome parts are starting to spot and peel. I don’t want to mess with the dealer. My plan is to remove the entire grill then if possible separate the Vader chrome pieces, sand, prime, and paint, then reinstall. This will be much easier if they can be separated vs. doing on the grill base.

I got this paint and it appears to be almost a perfect match and should allow for a lasting result.

They are able to separate, you have to remove the grill and you will see the individual clips holding them in. I actually currently have mine all off to paint. Do you plan to prime and sand an all that or is this paint able to just spray on and your good? I may go this route instead of take them to a shop.

Hey YDoc, already got it all done. Here is the thread and photos. I took off all parts, sanded, then primer then paint. Very happy with the results and it is holding up great.
