Google maps/CarPlay turn information displayed in HUD?

My HUD has always done strange things. It has always shown vehicle speed and some times it shows speed limit and some times it shows direction of travel. I know there are settings for different amount of information but I'm not changing that. One drive the speed limit will be there the next drive the it may not. Same with direction of travel. I have always known that turn information can be displayed but since it never worked I assumed it must only work for built in nav not CarPlay. Today, for the first time in the 1 1/2 years I have owned the truck, turn directions were displayed in the HUD while navigating with google maps through car play. I have never taken it to the dealer for the recall on OTA so I am assuming it never does them. Other than these quirks it has been working relatively well and I have heard some people with issues after the update/recall. Anyone else seeing this?

Saw the same thing in my 23 half ton. Never knew which info was going to display when I used nav.
Stopping during road trips, sometimes it would resume with directions, sometimes not.

Mine is pretty stable showing vehicle speed and speed limit (when available)

I use mine daily with android auto. Displays navigation every time unless I hit the button for something else.
