I have a 2020 AT4 3.0 w 36K miles. At 50-60 mph the tires are making a howling sound so loud you cannot talk to anyone in the cab. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Is this a sign of tires needing replaced?

The howling sound is normal with the Duratracs, some worse than others, other than a normal tire rotation run them until they are down to minimum thread unless the noise drives you up the wall.

Cannot tell you if they need replacing, have never had that tire on my truck that long

I've got Nitto RG's on my truck, have had Nitto RG's on my last 3 trucks. Really like that tire.
I didn't mind the stock 32" duratracs while I had them on my 23 AT4X. They had great traction in the snow/ice, and I didn't notice they were loud, they also seemed to offer a plush, softer ride than the Nittos by a little bit. I put 1500 miles on them before I went with new wheels and tires. My current Nitto RG's are 34x11.5 on 18x9 -13 offset Fuel Contra wheels. Since the Nitto's are two inches taller than the stock 32" duratracs, they orginally felt a little heavier, which they are. I had also installed the RC 1.5" front level and RC 3.5" UCA's, and the front definitely felt a little stiffer. I think it has settled in a bit, I have put 6000 miles (mostly hwy) on the truck since I changed tires/wheels and did the front level, and the truck feels good. I am also used to the ride difference, but think it has just settled in a bit and is a bit more plush than when I first made those changes.
I also notice that the truck has a bit more growl from the stock exhaust now. I did clamp the flapper valve open a while back, but I think at 7500 miles the stock exhaust may have opened up a bit. I was going to put on an aftermarket muffler for a bit more low rumble, but don't think I will now since it sounds nicer after 7500 miles of break-in.

2021 AT4 3.0 w 39K miles. Around 35k miles the stock Duratracs increased in road noise significantly. Same howling you described. Decent tread life remaining but I still would have replaced them already if I weren’t considering a trade to a 2023 AT4..

I have been suffering from the loud humming of the tires in the cab almost embarrassing with friends riding with me and hard to talk over. I Cris cross swap the tires meaning front right to left rear, right rear to front lift. The difference was very satisfying. They still hum, but nowhere near as loud as they were.
They have 25k miles on them.

Mud tires guys, they are going to make noise. The factory duratrac 35s on my buddies f250 tremor are much louder then mine but he has more miles on his. I love the look of the duratracs but may go with a quieter tire when I change. Only 12k miles so I have a long while to go.

What size and load rating??? I need a "D" or "E" rated tire to stop the sidewall flex pulling a trailer

duratracs are pretty renowned for being noisy as they wear - I've had multiple sets including the set currently on my AT4 with 15K on them. I know they will start getting noisy soon and have given thought to replacing them sooner while they still have tread and are worth something used. Otherwise they are great tires in most conditions - just they get loud.
I have a set of Copper S/T Maxx on my jeep and cannot say enough good things about them. They are LR-E but great on and offroad and less noisy than the duratrac. May be worth a look.
