GMC apps and google maps?

refreshed? its all based on the in car data signal. if you have a refreshed prior to 2024 you should have 3 years. the 2024 only come with basic onstar and no data plan i believe.

Gents,
I just recently got an AT4 and am having trouble with the apps and google maps in the truck. How do you access this without signing up for some long term subscription? Is there a way to just use it as a basic navigation function?
Connect your truck to your home WiFi (Make sure you have a good strong signal), open maps, click the gear button (settings), click offline maps. Select areas and download. You can select very large areas. One of my offline maps is almost all of New England. The maps are "supposed" to update every so often during the night if it has a wifi connection. Just keep in mind Google software sucks worse than a power-hungry politician. Sometimes the maps disappear and you have to re-download them. Make sure you have them all downloaded the day before you plan on taking a road trip.

I suspect you can hotspot your phone to get data too, but haven't tried it yet. I refuse to pay for a data plan for the truck. It's bad enough I have to pay for data (internet connection) in my home, my phone, my wife's phone, my wife's watch, my wife's iPad, and my whole herd of daughters' phones...
