GM Buyback

Yeah, I've been following. Haven't seen an update on the second try fix with a dealer repair.
Last Wednesday they called me to say it was fixed and ready for pickup. I brought it home and as soon as I got out and looked underneath I had 2 puddles of oil. They towed it back for another try. It now has 108 miles on it; all of which are to / from the dealership to my driveway.

i looked into it. No so far as the process with GM, but the Lemon Law as it relates to my state. Seems they have three tries at a fix, with the last one being a "last attempt at resolution", which essentially gives them one last attempt before you can formally initiate the process. From what i read, on that third and final attempt, they fly corporate types and engineers out to truly do a deep dive.

I truly feel for you. Should not happen on any truck, let alone one with such a price tag.

good luck!

Keep us updated.

I haven't been thru a situation like that. I have read that for the lemon to work, is it has to be tried 3 times to fix the issue or a certain time frame that a vehicle is down.

I'm sure you have investigated this already. Every state is different I gather also.

This is nauseating. How freaking hard can it be to locate and fix an oil leak on a brand new truck. I also wonder what kind of half-ass'd fixes they have tried so far.

3x on any one fix or 30+ days in for all attempts on any combination of fixes - includes delayed parts…but check your state for the fix.

Seems a pretty big miss to state freeze plug and then note turbo oil feed line - which would have me concerned about the health of the turbo if it’s been starved for oil….like all labor - good mechanics are hard to come by.

If they expire on multiple attempts - or spends more than 30 days in shop, call GM Customer Care and request a buy back analysis.

Don’t pay a lawyer - GM is required to comply with the law - just need to be persistent

Sorry you're having to deal with this, I can imagine it's extremely frustrating! I had a 2018 Tundra that needed warranty repair due to a cam tower leak at around 7,500 miles. While they fixed the leak, they apparently screwed something else up in the engine while they had the top end opened up. I brought it back and took the master tech for a ride, and he said it definitely didn't sound normal. They opened the engine up two more times and weren't able to identify what was causing the sound. At that point I told them I didn't want the truck anymore, at which point the service director tried to say the sound was normal. I told him to take me for a ride in another truck on the lot, and sure enough he couldn't reproduce the sound. Luckily, I also had a dash cam and had the master tech on video riding with me saying it "wasn't normal". After all that, the dealer agreed to just buy the truck back at the same value as a Lemon Law claim would have given me, without us having to go through the Lemon Law process. I'm guessing the dealer agreed to do this since they technically are the ones who screwed it up after the initial warranty repair.

Anyway, I hope GM will step up and make this easy for you, because puking oil all over the place after multiple "fixes" definitely doesn't inspire confidence!

Having to look into this myself. Transmission issues at 600 miles . They replaced the valve body didn't fix it currently "waiting" on GM for other solutions and approaching 30 days that the dealership has had my vehicle. The Lemon Law varies by state. Along with the attempts/days in shop a written letter to the manufacturer with the documentation of attempted repairs must by sent in.

Yours is a 2024, I assume? Gas or diesel? What symptoms were you having with your transmission that led you to take it in?

YIKES! Your post doesn't give me much confidence in the $74,000 truck I recently purchased. I wasn't even able to drive my truck home the day I bought it because the transmission was bucking so wildly I literally thought someone was running into me. Come to find out it had a bad "valve body." How is that even possible on a brand new truck? They replaced the valve body the next day, and I haven't had any problems....................with the transmission since. Then when it got cold enough to need the heater, the smell of exhaust fumes in the cab was so overpowering I was unable to drive the truck. Come to find out, there were seals missing in the exhaust system. I think GM has a quality control problem.

I sure hope you get things worked out with your truck. I know it's very frustrating.

You must have an awesome dealer if'n they had a valve body for a new tranny in stock!

Every repair I've been reading about lately, has a 2 week to 2 months wait, for backordered parts.

Just look at @Chrisbert original problem. 15 days for a damn galley plug, that any ace hardware store would have.

And yes I have been through the lack of gm's part availability. I had a '22 Denali drw's block heater plugged in Nov15th of 22. Block heater to wiring connector melted, causing engine wiring harness to melt...

GM engineers even flew out to my local dealer. No engine wiring harness available. No idea when when it will be.

I found a harness April 21 of '23 on ebay...

Came from a scraper. BNSF had a train derailment in Ohio, 2 weeks after East Palestine derailment, loaded with a few dozen '22 and '23 HD's that were totaled out...

I took the whole harness to my dealer and said replace. Planting season was upon us. Got truck back a week later, after open heart surgery...

Only good thing that came from this inventory fiasco, is I bought Malcom, my '23 2500 AT4 to drive around while Big Blue was down...
