GM Authority says 2025 GMC Sierra will be totally new with new exterior, interior and drivetrain

I expected 2026. And that page says succesor is a 2026 model.

Ford didn’t change the f150 enough to erode sales of gmc/chevy.

Ram has the ram charger as coMpetition but it will be $80K+. So it wont impact volume sales. Its only been 6 years since the 2019 if they come out in 2025. With the covid supply issues and the mid cycle refresh taking a year longer.

i really thought they would do a full 7 year cycle aka normal. As they needed the capital for other EV lines.

If they were releasing a new truck mid 2024 calendar year we should know about it by now? Have seen spy spots?

“The next engine portfolio update in our next-generation full-size trucks will deliver better than a 10 percent reduction in greenhouse gases compared to today’s offerings.”

translation- even more emissions garbage on these engines, more service, less power, and reduced long term reliability...

Candidly your going to not like this, i wanted a 15kWh PHEV option with the 3.0L diesel; they wont do it but they might with the 2.7L i4 as the packaging might fit.

In Cali and have solar panels. With 30miles of electric range my daily around town driving will be free.

Have a 6.2L now and love it, the take off is great. But a 150hp electric motor sandwiched inline with engine and tranny would be about equal acceleration. With having alot of the fuel price be free.

In some of the investments in “new” generation engine press releases they talk about making ev wiring parts in thr same investments at powertrain factories. Makes me think there is the possibility that maybe one has some PHEV tech in it.

If you look at the epa changes for the 2026 to 2030 years. Not sure how they could make the fleet mandates without some type of hybrid electricification.

Anyone heard anything on the 2025 HD's? I'm still seeing talk of major changes but I am very skeptical. I know 2024 was an update and it would be strange to see another update.

I have said this for years now, but EV only trucks are just too limited in range given the need to tow, 4WD, off-road scenarios, cold weather usage, etc. Given that limitation on current battery tech holding back EV trucks (for those who use their trucks as more than drivers like I do), I have long wanted a true PHEV were the smaller engine is only a generator, not powering the drivetrain at all. Like the Ramcharger will be once it is out in a year or so.

I think I will hold on to my 23 AT4X 6.2 until a PHEV truck like I described above is available. I think that is the natural, and current best, transition from full ICE. Electric powered vehicles are much more powerful, and mechanically simpler overall. A problem with a hybrid like I am describing will be modding the truck. You probably can't lift it, or do much of anything that messes with the stock powertrain and suspension. Just look at the Ramcharger, it is low slung and has low clearance with hwy tires/wheels fitted to it.

I, in no way, indicated the desire or expectation of any EV, PHEV or hybrid models.

I realized that. Was just throwing in my 2 cents worth, which was kind of off topic. What I meant to say was, until a hybrid PHEV truck is available in GMC AT4 trim, I will probably hang on to my 23 AT4X. I bet it will be many years until a hybrid GMC AT4 is out like I described. But who knows.

I am still quite interested to see what the newest version of the truck will be when that info is available. Always like seeing the design, engine and tech updates when a refreshed model comes out.

I believe the next generation HD trucks will be electric motors powered by an engine attached to a generator..kinda like a train setup….would be the best of both worlds. Batteries are just not the way to go.

I cannot see GM changing the HD trucks that quick but who knows

I just bought a new 24 so I'm hoping they meant that we will see the new design IN 2025, for the 2026 models. Not a new design for the 2025 models 🙏🤞
