Fuel additives

I think you'll find various opinions for those that use and don't use additives. I use Hot Shot's Everyday Diesel. Can't say if it does anything or not. I may ever realize anything by using it because I typically don't keep vehicles that long.

I use Power Service -Diesel Kleen.. I really haven't noticed and difference...but it might keep me out of the shop a little longer.

I use Diesel Kleen, it reduces my mpg despite I add it anyway to keep things clean although in 8000 miles I have not noticed any difference.

I found this video interesting:

I used to run stanadyne but after watching the video would try to find XPD Opti-lube or I know power service is easy to find

I use archoil diesel treatment. Small mpg improvement but just trying to keep things clean in there.

I dump a gallon of XPD in every tank fill, along with 50/50 #1 and #2 during winter and haven't had any gelling at -18°, and we are going to be testing that here again this week!

I think there is plenty of evidence that they reduce gelling for those in cold climates, increase lubricity, reducing engine wear, and provide a little Cetane boost. I bet most of the products folks list here will keep your engine and emissions systems a little cleaner. I run hot shots winter defense at the moment but am deciding whether or not I want to pay the extra $ for XPD. I may switch over to power service products instead.

I tend to keep my vehicles until they have a few hundred thousand miles on them so I will continue to use an additive.

Do y’all use one? Do you think it makes a difference?

Any product recommendations?
I use the hotshot everyday stuff as well. Don't know how good or bad it does other than my 2021 LM2 has 85k miles with no issues. Biggest thing is, use reputable fuel and change fuel filter when it's due.

I’ve used hot shots EDT and power service in the past. I’be been running the house brand stuff from xtreme diesel performance for awhile now which is half the cost. Engine seems smoother with additive than without no matter the brand.

Thanks for sharing this video. It was very informative, I ordered some arch oil on the back of watching it.

I have used amsoil diesel all in one. Haven't noticed any change in mileage. It is winter and my mileage usually goes down a bit until the weather warms up. The only thing I noticed is the sweet diesel exhaust smell has changed to something god awful. I am going to assume the smell is it cleaning my engine by burning all the crud build up. I have used Lucas upper cylinder fuel treatment on my old 09 5.3L Sierra. I did notice an increase in mileage with that. It says on the bottle good for diesel engines, haven't tried it yet in my 3.0L. Everyone will use something different. If you want to run and additive pick something from a reputable company that appeals to you.
