I assume this is an age old question, but I cannot find any questions when searching.
1) Why are people using fuel additives when it is HIGHLY recommended by GM not to use them?
2) What is the benefit?
3) Do you recommend one at every fuel up?
3) What is the agreed upon additive, and where do I get it?
Thanks,
VR

Here is a couple from the search function using the term words "fuel" and "additives" to get you started...

Thread 'Help! Which Fuel Additive' https://www.at4forum.com/threads/help-which-fuel-additive.2031/

Thread 'New to Duramax' https://www.at4forum.com/threads/new-to-duramax.2373/
OK Thanks, I read both of those. I'm still undecided. I guess I won't use any unless I don't use top tier fuel or we drop below 30 and stay there for a spell. I still like your pool timer idea of the engine heater firing up two hours before start up.

I’ve been using amsoil fuel additives and haven’t really noticed anything for a mpg. I just order it from amsoil website.
