I recently picked up a new 2023 1500 AT4 with the 3.0. I love the look of the truck inside and out and if everything worked correctly I would be thrilled. I now have almost 4,000 miles and havn't had a chance to get by the dealership to have it looked at but wondering if anyone else has had these issues or know a quick fix.

1. Yesterday getting ready to pull out of a parking lot the truck died and had to restart it, this was not auto start stop. I had to put back in park and hit the starter button. no CEL was displayed afterwards

2. have had a transmission shudder probably 5-6 times pretty bad. it only happens when going slightly uphill, and using the cruise to change the speed from 60-65 mph.

3. at least once a day I get a pop up on the dash when I start the truck that says "Speech services by google, for your safety, this activity isn't available while driving. to continue, wait until your parked." I have to hit the "X" then it takes me to the home screen and I have to tap which screen I want to have displayed. this is just one of the annoying things that I feel shouldn't happen.

4. sometimes it wont find contacts through the voice controls. ex: I ask it to call tony, it says which tony, Anthony black or Tony 2. the kicker is I have 5 Tony's in my contacts one is just "Tony" but it won't find it.

5. I tried apple car play, it seems lagging and somewhat buggy. sometimes the screen freezes for a little while, other times when holding the steering wheel speak button down to turn on siri nothing happens if I hold it 10 seconds.

I'm really trying to like this truck but it seems somewhat buggy, has anyone else dealt with these issues or know a fix for them? Thanks for any help.

I have the 22R 1500 AT4 LM2 and have had no issues with the power train.
I don't let the truck help me drive and I don't use the infotainment center so no issues there.
Hopefully you get the software sorted out soon, enjoy the truck. :)

I have 2023 AT4XAEV model and have had no issues. A previous general sales manager for GM who is a good friend of mine.
Has told me several times that if I do go in on a recall notice or for work to also ask the dealer to update bulletin items, which is something they keep quite about. Hope this helps some.

I have a 2023 AT4 6.2L with 3500 miles and have had zero power train issues. The 6.2L took about 2000 miles to feel broken in, but she is a beast now!

I have the same situation with Google, but it does not take me to another screen once I "X" out the message. No engine issues, but the transmission does shudder occasionally at slow speeds. I also like the truck but find these annoyances problematic.

1 & 2: It actually sounds like the lock-up mechanism (can't remember what it's called) in the torque converter is locking up a inappropriate times. When it stays locked, your drive train is completely locked together all the way from the engine to the wheels. When you stop the truck, the engine is stopped by force, because there is no disconnect in the transmission. Unintended locking 'can' cause weird behavior during changing driving speeds. The lockup mechanism is only supposed to be engage during cruising speeds. It should disengage when changing speeds.

3, 4, & 5: That is all powered by google android. Google programming is among the worst in the information systems industry. I call their programming technique "romper room programming". I became a software engineer after leaving the military, and have gone to a few google seminars (well...forced to by my employer). They are like a group of children who are either inexperienced, or never-mentored coders, who have no idea how to put it all together. They use a technique called "extreme-programming" which is when, instead of fixing and building on previous code, they start over and build it again from virtual scratch. With that, you never get solid code, you end off with all new problems. When using google applications, you have to expect annoying problems, or you will just be pissed off all the time. Microsoft automobile code is either slightly better or equally junk. I haven't made up my mind yet.

As for the transmission. That's a problem, which they can and will fix.
As for the software related problems, that's no worse that any of the new cars/trucks. They are all diving into way higher tech systems, and relying too heavily on Google, Microsoft, etc. Hopefully the auto manufacturers will wake up and demand more quality control in the software houses.

P.S. about 1 out of 5 times I drive my 2024 AT4, something about the entertainment system isn't working.

Thanks for all of the help, I will try and get the truck in the next two weeks when its time for the first oil change and have them take a look at it. Hopefully they can get it lined out. I typically keep my trucks for 250k-300k but that only takes 6 years or so. because of this my warranties fly by so I can't wait to long to react.

thanks for the help.

Just curious. What trucks did you have before? I also haven't had a GMC in way over a decade, and got one a month ago.

06 F250
04 F150

All four of them made it to 250K, even the F250 with the 6.0 made it with out blowing the head gaskets.

I hope it all gets worked out for you. There is no reason the drive train should be doing that without a manufacturing defect. I guess these days it could be electronic. Anyway I hope they fix it right.
