Anyone have the door mounted wireless keypad? Does it allow you to start your vehicle via the app if your keys are locked inside as designed by the keypad?

I had a Ford with the keypad and it's whole intent was to lock keys inside while at gym, store, etc. You could also use the app to remote start.

My GMC won't let me exit vehicle, lock via keypad with key fob inside, and then remote start from app.

I didn't even know these existed. The GMC accessories site doesn't seem to offer for the 2023's? They are on the site but says "Not a fit" for my model year.

I bought one because I was so used to it and liked it on my F150. I never carried my keys.

GM had to install it, you can't do it yourself. I'm calling them but wanted others take if they have it working.

"Keyless entry keypad does not affect remote OnStar features"

It should start with doors locked and keys inside.

How much did that cost? Can you download pictures.

I have the keypad for my 2023 and I love it as well. Got used to it on my ford explorer and f150. For me, I cannot start the truck using the phone app if the keys are inside. I can unlock and lock the truck with the app with the keys inside, but I can’t start it (tried multiple times).

I need this, but why is GM accessories page it isn’t for my 23 Sierra?! Can dealer order it anyway?

I have them on our 20 and 21.. they were designed for earlier models and that is why they are slanted.. the NEW versions are horizontal.. they work great for locking the keys in the truck when floating the river and such... No you cannot use it to start the truck.. just lock and unlock and fold the mirrors in... cost about $350 to install on each of our trucks from dealer.. they have to call FM and pair with VIN.. I love it.. especially when I just need to pop in or out of the trucks and wife has the keys..

Oh also cannot replace the battery in them for security purposes.. so roughly every 4-5 years (depends on your use of it) it is about $350 to replace and reprogram..

Sorry for the late reply. Didn't have my notifications on.

I should've mentioned that yes the whole unit needs to be replaced if the battery goes dead. I won't have the truck by then.

I read on the GM site that OnStar services are not impacted which tells me remote start is supposed to work. That is the whole point. I'm very disappointed in this. Ford has them licked here. I don't understand not being able to start the car from the app. If you start from the app it locks the doors first anyway. Then you have to use the keypad or app to get in. Its secure.

Going to the gym, concert, airport without keys....Stopping in a convenience store leaving the truck running with AC/heat on, tap keypad to lock door as exit, enter keypad on the way back in.

I bought mine online and had the dealer install for $65. They do need to get GM headquarters engaged.
