So i'm new to the diesel gang. At what point do i get a warning to refill my DEF tank. I am currently sitting at 5600 miles with one tick left on the gauge. Should i just refill it now or wait until i get some sort of refill warning?

Yes you should however it’s not based on those dash marks, the DEF range DIC message first displays at approximately 1600 km (1,000 mi). This message appears again at approximately 500 km (300 mi) of remaining range before the exhaust fluid tank becomes empty.

As the fluid level nears empty, these messages appear every time the vehicle is started.
IMPORTANT
Do not overfill, some have had crystallization issues if the tank is too full. I usually leave one check mark from full in order to make sure that doesn’t happen.

Ive never got one of those messages. I guess ill just put some in.

You might of and not noticed, it’s not a message that requires a confirmation. Meaning you don’t have to do anything in order to clear it.
