Dealer Firmware update gone terribly wrong

Took my truck in to have them check for firmware updates as my startup screen says "AT4" instead of "AT4X" plus the infotainment system has froze on me a couple of times. SA told me there were two outstanding updates plus the new AT4X startup graphic that needed to be installed. Well things didn't go well as they "bricked" my truck during the upgrade. I was told I now need a new graphics module which is on indefinite backorder. I can't drive the truck because apparently they wiped the old firmware before installing the new version so I have no Speed Odometer or Fuel reading among other things. So I have a brand new Truck sitting at the dealer with no ETA. This is a word of caution when getting the firmware update done.

Bad dealer! been there had that happen before on a Denali HD truck. I never stepped foot in the place after that. They are barely in business now days.

That's one of the worst dealer stories I've heard. It really is a crap shoot when you take your vehicle to any service shop that you don't have personal info about them.
Sorry to hear about your dealer experience. I hope they gave you a decent loaner.

Update today: GM has no update on when they can get me a new IPC Module. They are saying it is VIN specific so they can't take it from another vehicle...

Update: so called another dealer who said they were willing to try to restore the IPC. Picked up my truck from the original dealer this morning. Had to drive it 60 miles with no instrument cluster (no speed odometer no gas indicator among other things), I used my Android Auto on the radio to make sure I wasn't speeding. The new dealer was able to bring it back and now my truck is back in my driveway! Seems the original dealer didn't know what they were doing. I highly recommend the service manager Shane Mitzel of Front Royal GMC! Also Daniel the service tech. They both rock!

Anyone get another OTA update I got another one today just installed it and still no At4x showing up

Mine was in for an update because after the last update if I manually start the truck after a few seconds the fan speed lowered like I was on the phone. Well when they went in to do the update it fried the amplifier. So they ordered a new one installed it and tried to program the module and it fried that amp. So they got another one and tried to program it a different a ways and then fried that amp. So they ordered another one and we will see what Monday brings us. So as of right now my truck has no audio but luckily I am in a loaner.

Yes Sir, same here. Still no x and auto bright/dim must be turned back on after every start up and have noticed- if parking brake is set, first thing I see (before graphics come alive is PARK. Hell, the updates seem to be back dates to worse!

Is there a way to not update it and just leave it? Seems like these so called “updates” aren’t really updating lol
