Truck battery died on Sunday at the Vikings game. AAA jumped me and I was able to drive 6 hours home. Monday it started right up and went to work. Tuesday morning dead again so I went down to Interstate and bought a $350 AGM, cussed alot, then cussed even more when I went to replace it because I snapped off the negative battery sensor trying to get the dang thing out. Anyways, it ran fine after the replacement only to have it dead again today.....Had to buy a jump box because it was stuffed in my tiny garage so I am currently $700 in the hole with the battery, sensor and jump box. Its currently at the dealer. Anyone have this issue with the battery dying like this?

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that the dealer informed me that I am 100 miles over my warranty so this won't be covered. I love this truck but It's like I keep getting kicked in the balls lately.

Failed OTA update?
Maybe? Dealer called and said they can’t find anything wrong. Also said the battery is bad (yes the brand new battery I bought yesterday) and they can test no further. They offered to sell me a $400 battery so they can then fullly diagnose it. Ok, so then I could take the battery back to interstate battery right? Wrong. Interstate will only replace it with another one. So now what do I do? This is fun.

I'd go get the interstate battery and take it and exchange it out and bring the new one to the dealership. $400 for a battery is dumb.

I agree. Interstate battery was $370 though. All dumb.
I just had to replace mine. Was going to go w interstate but the everstart from Walmart was 185 and had a 4 year warranty. I went cheaper and w a longer warranty.
I will say pulling that battery out was kinda a pita.

Yes, definitely was a pita. And I snapped the stupid battery module off in the process. Having a great few days here.

I was hesitant to buy a cheaper battery at Costco etc because of the class action lawsuit.

Don't compromise on your car battery! Get the best one possible. With my truck, after a failed OTA update, my dealer replaced both batteries under warranty which was a great delight to me.
For my Mercedes, I used to go to the dealer to replace its battery, I did that twice, first after almost seven years and the second time after another five years; OEM batteries only have a limited warranty. The third time I went to my local Walmart super store who had the best range of batteries; their battery has a three year warranty and was the best. I'll go back to Walmart for all my future battery needs unless I can get something better anywhere.

Update: dealer couldn’t find anything wrong. They kept it overnight and the battery was dead again in the morning. They said it’s either a bad interstate battery or the aftermarket amplifier I have installed. I think that is complete and utter bullshit. They are either lazy or incompetent so I took my truck home. Took the battery out and down to interstate. They did a full load test on it and it passed with flying colors. They were nice enough to give me a new one just in case. I have a guy I trust going to do a parasitic draw test on it today with the new battery so we should see what’s going on.

Know what’s funny, I was planning on buying an extended warranty from that dealer but not now. For one I don’t want to give them any more of my money, and two, wtf good is an extended warranty if all these guys are going to do is point at an aftermarket accessory and say “that’s it, that’s the problem” and not cover it anyways!

When you find the draw and it's not your amp, pull the fuse and take it back and say, "Fix it, the circuit is open and no power is running to the amp now".

Your guy should have it diagnosed for them on what circuit is staying awake...

Part of me really really wants to do that and the other part of me does not trust them at all to do anything to my truck. I know it’s not the amp. You could leave an amp on for two days (with no output) and it still wouldn’t drain a fully charged brand new battery.

You have a highly incompetent dealer tech. Go to another dealer.
