Two dealers and four different techs , six service visits and it still does not work. Camera which worked fine was just replaced with no change. The dealers keep talking about it needing a new program but they can't explain why a new program which is under development by GM is needed for just my vehicle. Collision avoidance has three options in settings OFF, ALARM ONLY, and ALARM AND BRAKING. My truck does nothing regardless of setting.
What do you do when the dealers can"t fix the issue????????

Unfortunate that you can't find an explanation. Keep taking it back and try to lemon law the vehicle or deal with the problem as though the feature isn't necessary.

Personally, I never use the system but I could see why others might like the peace of mind.

Everything else on the vehicle is fine though? Parking sensors?

Just curious how have you tested the system? Mine seems to be a bit quirky where even without an object present it determines to alert me but again I don't rely on it.

My testing is based on experience, I have had the truck since Dec 24 and never saw an alarm or auto braking. That plus all the dealer visits and they have confirmed that it does not work. My pedestrian emergency stopping also does not work. I have no parking sensors.

GM can not fix issues with collision avoidance. I don't think they even understand what it does or how it works? If they don't see codes everything is OK. I test drive with the mechanic and demonstrate that its not functioning and they are at a loss . They don't know what to do next.

How do I get this fixed? Any suggestions on how to proceed ?

Get in touch, via email or telephone, with GMC product engineer. If you have to, get on the phone with their engineering dept by googling the phone number. The dealer should have already kicked the problem up to them.

I have spoken with Customer Service many times and asked to speak with personal having some technical expertise with the problem I have been experience, but all I get from them is "contact your local GM service center". I will investigate contacting GMC engineering directly. Thanks

I’ve only owned my 2025 Canyon AT 4 for a few weeks, had no idea how the crash avoidance system functions. Found out Saturday, when I got too close to the vehicle ahead of me while fooling with the radio. It did a full stop, hard braking, it works really well. Potentially saved the truck.

Have you tried the Following Distance/ Gap settings. My truck on the single gap (1 line) always has the image in orange,.in the 2nd or 3rd Gap setting everything stays green no matter how close I get to the vehicle in front of me. That does not sound like its working.

Active Fuel Management indicated by ECO light never activates, not under lite load , down hill coast etc. Tech say no codes and it is working right but they can't get it to activate, explain how it works or make it work. I ask if you can't make it work how do you know it is functioning correctly, their answer is always the same "NO CODES".

My gap was set at the longest indicator, green, I was approaching the rear end of the vehicle in front of me at approximately 40 MPH, while looking at the radio, truck came to a screeching, vibrating halt. Didn’t mean to test the system, it just happened. The system does not activate while slowly parking the truck in front of my house, it only happened at speed, when it really needed to function.
As far as the code thing is concerned, the tech’s answer reflects what he was taught about the system, and what his troubleshooting flow chart says. These crash avoidance systems are relatively new so the level of experience of the dealership techs is limited, that’s why to try to get hold of someone who knows more about it. There has to be a computer diagnostic routine that effectively tests the system, that’s something that will be known to engineers. Also, ask the tech if they have a diagnostic set that specifically checks the system, and if so, what does it say.

I believe the dealer has given up. I had it at dealer again for full eight hours and they still can;t fix the Follow gap and collision avoidance system.
The Active Fuel Management just does not function and they can't explain why. I have tried different dealers, five different Techs and calls to Customer Service, Neither of these systems has worked since purchase.
I search the net for a GM technical assistance number, can,t't find any contact and CS is useless. I am starting to think Lawyer

Tomorrow, during business hours, findthe mainswitcboard number fot GM, then work your way to the Canyon engineering staff, or the product engineer. It may take a while, but give it a shot. There is also typically a factory field representative that deals with dealer problems, don’t know if you have reached out to that rep if one is available in your area. Hope it all works out for you.

I have tried contacting GM directly but with little success, all they do is refer me to customer service. I have asked Customer Service on numerous calls for a direct contact with a technical contact with the knowledge who could answer my questions. All I get is call your dealer service. Customer Service is like what my farther would call TITS ON A Bull, they are there but serve no purpose. They have no authority, can't call or put you in contact with someone who could answer your question, and don't know the product. They apologize often, read the manual to you, and create Case Numbers which means nothing

Guess all you have left is to get an attorney. That won’t be cheap. Does yor state have an automobile lemon law? If it does there may be a lawyer that specializes in pursuing that statute. It’s worth it to investigate that possibility, to get someone who is experienced in this kind of claim Sad the company doesn’t have an easy way to deal with the problem. It could be as easy as replacing a sensor, or cmputer module. Do you know if they have run a diagnostic ruotine on the vehicle computer? It would be good to get all the stuff the dealers have told you they did, a time line of the problem, the names of the dealerships you have visited, and any receipts you have. That will help your attorney push your case.

Yes on the Lemon Law, but it is not the path I want to go down. All I want is the vehicle fixed, but I believe they have no idea what they are doing. Why no expert assistance is used I have no idea and when I ask they never provide an acceptable answer.
For the last time I am going back to my original dealer and if they try to give me back the vehicle before its completely repaired and demonstrated I am going to refuse to accept it back. I am going to get the dealership's senior management involved and I will let them know lawyers will be next.
My goal is to force them make something happen, call GMC etc.

Understand you really like the truck, and hopefully your approach to senior dealership management will ultimately get it fixed. Keep us posted on what happens.
