Cold start ticking noise 6.2 L V8

What oil are you using? Does it go away after it warms up? My 5.3 didn’t sound like that but maybe someone with a 6.2 can chime in?

I'm not sure what oil gmc puts in them from factory. I just had the dealership do the first oil change today at 6k miles and I didn't notice the ticking noise afterwards. I'll listen in the morning when I do a cold start to see if still ticks

Whenever mine is getting due for a oil change, i'll notice a little ticking on cold starts. I don't wait for 5000 miles before doing it. I'll usually do it around 3500 to 4000 miles tops. I know on the older GM engines, if the oil wasn't changed properly, the lifter bucket holes would clog up, cause sludge to build up there, block the return holes, and cause premature lifter failure. I'm running this truck with the assumption, that the problem may stem from similar issue, but I could be wrong.
