Hey everyone,

Just got my 23’ duramax AT4 and I’m already getting the “ cleaning exhaust filter “ message and the truck only has 300 miles on it. Is it normal to get it on a truck with such low miles? I’ve heard this is a big annoyance with the Duramax but didn’t think it would happen that often. Thanks for the info
It probably had a bunch of short test drives at the dealership, or lots of idling. Run it semi-hard for a little while (30 minutes or so) and it should clear itself out.

As Wakinvol said above, its likely due to how it has been driven at the dealership. I can normally get 500-600 miles between regens. You should see this pattern as you add miles to the truck.

I know I’m diggin up an old post, but did you ever get it figured out? I recently purchased a 22 and the same message came up today. Drove dang near 100 miles today and still hasn’t gone off on mine.

Welcome.

I'm sure you have shut down by now! 😀

Did the message come back after restarting? Is this a 3.0 or 6.6?

I have a ‘20 and mine was on for about 5 days. Just semi hot rod it around town (get that cat hot enough to burn out the soot) and it will clear. If you can get some highway miles and get it to 85 for a bit it should do fine!

Local service department told me the same thing yesterday. I’ve got a 160 mile round trip for tires tomorrow then 500 miles to Dallas Friday. One of those days oughta do it then. Thanks.

That trip to Dallas will
Clear it hands down. Also, your truck won’t auto start if it’s in regen mode so don’t freak out. Once that code clears, you will be able to auto start it. Just things I’ve learned dealing with it….

I hope the trip to Dallas takes care of it. The trip to get my tires sure didn’t. Interesting that you say it won’t remote start with it in, mine remote started today.

Interesting……these damn trucks are smarter than you and I so who knows!
Update. 30 miles into my 500 mile drive today and it finally cleared. I decided to order the iDash so I can monitor everything in the future.
