When I purchased my new 2023, GMC TX4 sierra 1500 this year I had to sign a release saying that I agreed that I will not put metal snow chains on my 4 Wheel Drive truck.
I called the dealership about this yesterday and they said that the metal snow chains interferes with some type of a pick up on the vehicle that links a sensor to something in there on the vehicle dashboard to metal on the tire, or in the tire or something like that. The service person was not clear or possibly did not know.
I’m going to buy cables today for two tires but it’s not clear why I cannot use the chains that are metal. The guy I spoke to thought there was something in the tire itself that causes this problem of the inability to use metal chains, but that didn’t make sense to me.
Does anyone know anything about this?
